Councilman Spillers moved approval of the Park and Recreation Commission's recom- <br />mendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />PA -RK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOM,1E ED II,IPROVITIG BASE PATHS AND INFIELD AREA BALL DTAITONDS HOOVER SCHOOL. MR <br />City Auditor Brophy stated that there wasn't any money in the Park Department budget, however, there was on" <br />money in the Recreation Department budget. Recreation Director Dorton stated that this mn s a park <br />project and not under his budget. The cost of this work would be approximately X05.00. This was <br />followed by discussion after which Councilman Her::ner moved approval of the Commission's recommendation, <br />0 <br />seconded by Councilman Spilllers and carried. In <br />reply to the Council's request regarding the Hetch-Hetchy area on the east side of Carson Street, the <br />Commission viisiles to advise that this matter Was discussed at their 'May meeting, and a committee was <br />appointed to study the area in :question, as well as adjacent and alternate land. They w ill promptly <br />f oraard to the Council the results of t -is cormiittee's report and the action of the Commission on it. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the letter be filed. The Clerk read the letter wherein it -Vms stated <br />that a copy of this letter was being sent to the City -Council to let them publicly -know hor-4proud they <br />were of Mr. Anderson and his group.' The letter was ordered filed and the Mayor directed the clerk to <br />write a letter of commendation to the Pool 11anager, <br />Mayor Royer asked the Department heads to have the necessary information for the study meeting on l7ednesday <br />night in regard to the water reservoir outside the city limits. <br />The Clerk r,1 --ad a letter from the Chamber of Commerce lrherein they stated that the Chamber would participate <br />and cooperate in the Centennial with particular emphasis on the Peninsula Celebration Association rodeo <br />July 1, 2, 3 and 4* The letter was ordered filed. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the Chamber of Commerce 1rherein the complimented the Council on the improvement <br />of the neighborhood and do.,rntovm streets. larticular em)hasis was placed on the many repairs completed <br />and the sweeping of the streets. This letter was ordered filed. <br />Councilman granger stated that there was an article appearing in the Tribune in regard to the City Manager <br />and the a,ater Superintendent driving City vehicles after hours. This was followed by a very heated <br />discussion. Councilman Granger stated that he iranted the public to be told that Lisle .'Tinter is on <br />24 hour call and the City I:lanager had been given authorization to use the City car because of all the <br />meetings he has to attend. <br />Councilman Spillers reported on progress of the 4 for buildin-, bleachers and grand stands at Hawes Park, <br />and lights at the new soft ball field. The Mayor asked the City Attorney to check into the possibility <br />of opening the concession stand. Councilman Spillers moved that the permit be granted for the concession <br />stand sul-iject to the approval of the Health Department, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the City Manager and the Vlater Superintendent have full use of the City car. # <br />Councilman L:eiss was told that The motion was not necessary because permission had been granted long Wei <br />ago. Mayor Royer asked the press to carry the fact that the City I.anager and the ffater Superintendent <br />have the Council's authority to drive and use the City cars after hours. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried.
