175 <br />City Engineer Jain stated that they had written a letter but they have not received any answer to date. <br />Mr. Jain stated that they have agreed on a location. Mayor Royer asked Mr. Jain to check into this matter. <br />Councilman Granger asked for a report about a year ago in reference to No Left Turns on Jefferson and Middlefield . <br />He said he wanted a report on this. He also brought up the matter of Marsh Road. Mayor Royer referred this <br />to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee, City Engineer Jain stated that there wasn't any method of signing <br />!^' the streets from Bayshore. <br />Councilman Stout stated that there wasn't any sign or anything stating that the Veterans Memorial Building was <br />a memorial building. He moved that something, perhaps a sign or placque, should be made so that the people <br />could see how and why this building was allowed, seconded by Councilman Weiss who asked that this be referred <br />to the Commission, the placque to be placed in a suitable plane in the building. Motion carried. <br />POO <br />USE PERMITS GRANTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION: <br />1. To G. R. Palmquist to reinstate a non -conforming rental unit at 6114 Crompton subject to condition <br />that permit expires on transfer of property. <br />2. Oddstad Homes, for a free-standing sign at 1718 Broadway. <br />3. Signal Oil Company, to re-establish bulk storage destroyed by fire at portion of Lot 4, Hill Knolls <br />Tract. <br />4. Algiers Restaurant, for a free-standing sign on E1 Camino Real. <br />No Council action was required on the above. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Kimball. <br />The minutes of May 21 and May 28 were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman SpiAers, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger and carried. <br />%"'r APPOINTMENT OF VINCENT RAMBO TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. The Clerk swore in Vincent Rambo as a member of the <br />Planning Commission. Mayor Royer extended his congratulations. <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCE, K. B. TOKNE REGARDING PAVING OF BEECH STREET FROM MAIN STREET TO EL CAMINO REAL. Mr. Towne <br />.w• stated that there are only five property owners in the two blocks that they are asking to be paved. These <br />property owners have agreed to have the work done and will pay cash for the work. This would mean that they <br />did not want any of the assessments to go to bond. He stated further that he had hoped to have the money <br />tonight but he had not been able to contact all the property owners to get the money. Mr. Towne submitted a <br />letter advising the Council that they want to proceed with the paving of Beech Street between E1 Camino Real <br />and Main Street. Mr. Towne further stated in his letter that they would appreciate having the Council <br />immediately set up the necessary procedure for calling for bids on the job in accordance with plans and <br />
