Councilman Stout moved that this matter be set <br />for a study meeting with all the Council present. The Mayor stated that the City Manager had figures avail- <br />rpm <br />able for placques at a cost of approximately $28.00 each. The motion was seconded by Councilman Herkner. <br />., This was followed by discussion after which Councilman Stout added to his motion that this be done within <br />30 days. The Mayor stated that they will take this up at 7:30 next Monday night. Councilman Herkner <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />STATUS OF HC7,1MAND STREET LOTS, WEED CLEANUP, ETC. City Attorney Currie stated that Mr. Asvos would be able to <br />4. state the condition as it now appears. Fire Marshal Asvos reported that the lady lives alone and had <br />60 <br />gotten into the habit of dumping her rubbish on the City's property. He has contacted the lady and she is <br />now cleaning up all the rubbish. She had had a couple of accidents which delayed her in cleaning up the <br />,property, however, she is doing her best. Mrs. Asvos stated that he would report back in two or three <br />weeks. Councilman Herkner moved that this be carried on the agenda for three weeks, seconded by Council- <br />man Granger and carried. <br />CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION TO ACQUIRE LOT 30, BLOCK 6, FARM HILLS NO. 2 FOR FUTURE FIRE STATION. The Clerk <br />read the following letter submitted by the City Manager: <br />It has been recommended by the Fire Chief that, if possible, Lot 30 of Block 6, <br />Farm Hill No. 21 be acquired for the location of a future fire station for the <br />protection of the newly subdivided areas in the westerly protion of the city. <br />I understand the owners have been contacted, and that this lot will be available <br />when the property is put on the market. <br />Therefore, it is my recommendation that this matter be referred to the Real <br />Estate Committee for the purpose of negotiation. In the event the Committee <br />recommends acquistion, since no funds have been appropriated for this purpose, <br />the method of financing must also be determined. <br />Councilman Stout moved that this be referred to the Real Estate Committee and that they be authorized to <br />take into consideration the need of a branch library and possible -need of a fire house, seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi. The Mayor stated that the Real Estate Committee could only recommend prices. This <br />was followed by discussion in regard to the possible use of the property. Councilman Stout changed the <br />motion to have the Real Estate Committee appraise the property, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the City Manager check into needs of the area for a,firehouse, for future needs <br />of branch library in connection with firehouse and come back with recommendation. Councilman Weiss asked <br />that the report and recommendation include statistical report as to the need. The Mayor stated that this <br />was already a part motion. Councilman Weiss seconded the motion which carried. <br />PON INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE REZONING HIGHLANDS OF EMERALD LAKE AND OAK KNOLL MANOR FROM "U" DISTRICT TO R-1 <br />bow EXCEPTING AREA STILL TO BE ZONED C -1-H. Mrs. Miller, 2432 Harding Avenue, spoke on the subject and stated <br />that he thought this should be held up for further hearings on this matter. The Mayor explained the <br />situation to Mr. Miller. City Attorney Currie stated that the ordinance describes only the area to be <br />rezoned. The three parcels left are still in "U" district. <br />Councilman Britschgi,offered the intoduction of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried <br />on roll call with Councilman bei Spillers p' ng noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION$ MANZANTTA-LAUREL-HILTON IMPROVEMENTS. The City Attorney said the <br />public hearing will be set for July 2nd. Councilman Weiss was of the opinion that the Council should be <br />given more information before.these items come before them. This was followed by discussion. City <br />Engineer Jain stated that a petition had been before the Council some months ago. Councilman Herkner <br />
