194 <br />offered RESOLUTION 2047 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION, MANZANITA-LAUREL-HILTON <br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. This was followed by <br />discussion. Councilman Granger wanted to know why Manazanita wasn't tied in with Stambaugh. Mr. <br />Jain stated that they could not contact the people to sign the petition. He further stated that all <br />the street on Manazanita will be included which has not been paved before. The motion carried on roll <br />call with Councilman Spillers being noted absent. �I <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING PERSONNEL RULES. The question was raised as to whether or not this resolutionvvas <br />satisfactory to the employees. George Asvos, President of the Employees Association, asked that <br />this be held up so the employees could check into the amendments. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />this be carried on the agenda for two weeks, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ELECTRICAL CODE. City Attorney Currie stated that this was <br />mow <br />approved by the Building Inspector. Councilman Britschgi raised the question as to the number of code <br />ordinances which are being amended. Building Inspector Kreiss stated they they were only trying to <br />bring their records up to date and also be in agreement with,the majority of the Cities in the County. <br />The City is operating under the 1941 Electrical Code. This was followed by discussion. Councilman <br />Granger stated that he wanted to bring out to the people that they voted down -the Charter amendment <br />regarding -printing of such ordinances and it is now going to.the the City $1,300 for advertising of <br />the codes. This was followed by more discussion after which Councilman Britschgi moved that the <br />Building Inspector list the major changes up -dating the ordinance since 1911, seconded by Councilman <br />Stout. Councilman Granger offered a substitute motion which the City Attorney ruled was not legal. <br />This was followed by further discussion. Building Inspector Kreiss stated that he was trying to get <br />the Electrical Code up to the requirements of the County and the City of San Mateo. The Mayor said the <br />motion now before the Council was to continue this for two weeks and the Building Inspector to list ON" <br />the major changes. This motion carried with Councilman Granger voting No. %am <br />Councilman Stout was of the opinion that the Building Inspector was going to request changes in the <br />Building and also the Plumbing Code. He thought these changes should also be brought to the attention <br />of,the Council. Councilman, Granger offered RESOLUTION 20118 FOR VARIANCE r.r <br />FOR THE ABOVE and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner. The Clerk read the letter from <br />the Planning Commission wherein it was stated that there were no protests at the public hearing and <br />the Planning Commission found that this variance, if granted, would not be detrimental to the, <br />surrounding area or to public health and safety because of the alley to the rear. Mr. Cottrell <br />asked if the Council could change the variance to a 51 rear yard. The Mayor informed Mr. Cottrell ago <br />that that would mean referring this matter back to the Planning Commission. Mr. Cottrell asked the <br />Council to proceed with the 101 rear yeard variance.
