Hall, for the purpose of ascertaining the wishes of the group with reference to <br />fire protection service to the area which. it is contemr..1_ated will be included in a fire <br />district under consi deraticn for est..aT-,,l.ishment under county authorization. <br />The area involved is to be ccmor-ised of' <br />s o.f 'ttile d.iambarton acres, Dumbarton <br />Acres, Dumbarton Tract, Sweeney Subdivision and RedT.rood Manor, Lying to the south of <br />Willow St. and east of Pennsylvania Ave. <br />The spkesman for the group, Mr. John P. Connors, indicated that for the present it <br />was their intent to form a fire district and obtain fire protection services by contract- <br />ing for same either virith Redwood City or the Menlo Fire Distri..ct; That they have -pp- <br />6 roached the Menlo Fire District as well as Redwood City, but would prefer to negotiate <br />with Redwood City, as it is their feeling that in the course of natural events it. would <br />be logical for the area to annex and become an integral part of this community. <br />Your committee advised the Dumbarton -Fair Oaks representatives that it was the <br />concensus of opinion of this coram,ittee that for the present the logical procedure was <br />for this committee to present the matter to the enire counil, ascertain its wishes in <br />the matter before any further exploration of the problem; that we would recommend to <br />the Council that in the event they desire to authorize this committee to proceed with <br />furher exploration and negotiation, we would also request authority to call for a Board <br />of Fire Underwii.ters Survey of their survey of their area to give us a osis for sound <br />evaluation of the situation before any further discussions. <br />A letter confirming the desire of the group to continue and proceed with negotiations <br />is attached. <br />Respectfully <br />Louis'�1.eiss, Chairman <br />S. Lodi, Member. <br />Councilman Herkner stated that this Committee's activities were only to explore the situation and they <br />feel that this should be handled by the Council at a study meeting. This should not be delayed too long. <br />Mayor Royer asked if they could set this 1,i.p for the first 7-lednesday in Ausust, 9/8/56. Councilman Granger <br />asked Fire Chief J. L. Lodi to check with. the Board of Fire Underwriters and have their report before the <br />Council considers the matter. Councilman Weiss moved that +he City T,danager be authorized to contact the <br />j�oard of Fire Underwriters to check into.this matter and make their findings at a stud- meeting to be <br />held on Ausust 8, 19569 seconded by Councilman Granger who asked that this be put on the agenda for August <br />6th. City Engineer Jain stated that the plans have <br />not been changed yet. There are 10 lots at the end of Gelnwood Avenue which will be inr7uded in this <br />district. This would mean that all of the Lipper area must now be served by water through the end portion <br />of Glenwood Avenue beyond the Hetch-Hetchy right-of-way. They have a petition from some of these people <br />asking for service. Nir. Papazian spoke on the question and he stated that the people can not wait any <br />longer and he did not want to have the matter set for furhter public hearings. This was followed by <br />discussion. Mr. Jain asked that he be excused so that he might bring in the petition. Councilman Spillers <br />withdr Air his motion until the City Engineer returred with the petition., <br />AUTHORTZE CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT DEED FOR 7TDENTNG STRIP ON OAK KNOLL DRIVE (RALPH F. THIBAULT). Councilman <br />Spillers moved that the City Clerk be authorized to accept the deed, seconded by Councilman Herkner. <br />Mrd <br />row <br />Councilman Weiss wanted to know if this was ,mart of the property being held for C -1-H consideration. City Engineer Jain stated that the petition asked for sewers only and <br />not water. Councilman Granger stated that he would only seconded this motion if the area which City <br />Engineer Jain is talking about is excluded. This was followed by discussion. <br />Councilman "Diss feels that in the interest of public convenience that this property should be included in <br />the assessment area and he stated his reasoning for this.
