Police Chief Faulstich stated that the operation will not -change one iota from the present <br />operations. He asked that the Clerk read his letter to the Planning Commission. After the reading of the <br />letter the motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN STOUT REPORT REGARDING SERVICE CLUB BENCHES. He reported that the following benches were ordered <br />and locations requested: <br />Ir.. Westwood Terrace Improvement Club ordered four benches: 2 benches to be located at the Shell Station, <br />Roosevelt and Upton, 1 bench across from this same Shell Station and 1 bench at Alameda de las <br />Pulgas and Roosevelt. <br />Kiwanis Club ordered two benches: 1 bench to be located at Walgreen Drug Comparq and 1 at Kleer Drug <br />Company, both located on Broadway. <br />Business and Professional Women's Club ordered one bench to be located adjacerit to 2423 Broadway. <br />Native Daughters of the Golden West ordered one bench to be located in front of the Ben Franklin <br />Store, 2129 Broadway. <br />Highlands Community Club ordered 1 bench to be located in or near Club area, bounded by Kentucky, <br />Woodside, Alameda de las Pulgas to Goodwin. <br />American Legion ordered 1 bench, however, they have not disignated their choice of location. <br />Councilman Stout was of the opinion that it would be appropriate to hold a dedication ceremony. Councilman <br />Stout moved approval of the locations as request by the service clubs. City Manager Rolison stated that he <br />would recommend approval of the locations. Councilman Stout changed his motion to approval of the <br />locations as requested by the Service clubs based on the City Manager's recommendation, seconded by Council- <br />man Herkner, Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that there should be definite locations and not general <br />ities as requested by the Highlands Community Club. After further discussion it was decided not to include <br />Highlands Community Club and the American Legion in the recommendation, Also under discussion was whether <br />or not the people had been contacted to see if the benches could be put in front of their property. The <br />motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REPORTED ON THE YACHT HARBOR. He reported that the work has started on the levee. The <br />Dredging Company has brought in their buckets and will probably start dredging tomorrow. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAY REQUEST CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON FREEWAY PROPERTY. Councilman Britschgi moved approval of <br />the request, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE, DOUGLASS AND WOODHOUSE.. POPLAR -HESS EBENER IMPROVEMENTS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,170.26 was <br />ordered paid on motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE, OSCAR HOLMES, PARKING LOT IV, in the amount of $1,891.62 was ordered paid on motion of <br />Councilman Britschgi and seconded by Councilman Herkner. Councilman Weiss raised the question as to the <br />percentage of completion. The Clerk read the percentage from the progress payment record after which the <br />motion carried. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE, OSCAR HOLMES, INDUSTRIAL WAY IMPROVEMENTS, in the amount of $8..487.15 was ordered paid on <br />motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING C011MITTEE RECOMMENDED STOP SIGNS BE ESTABLISHED ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF ST. FRANCIS <br />STREET AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH MADISON AVENUE, AND THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF NEVADA STREET AT ITS INTERSECTION <br />WITH MADISON AVENUE. Councilban Weiss moved approval of the recommendation, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi. City Attorney Currie stated that he should, on the next three items on the agenda, be instructed <br />a <br />to prepare the necessary resolutions. The motion carried. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Attorney <br />be instructed to prepare the necessary resolution, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENED THAT THE FOLLO1ffING IMPROVEMENTS BE MADE IN THE AREA OF THE NEW HALL <br />OF JUSTICE BUILDING WHICH IS BOUNDED BY MARSHALL, HAMILTON, WINSLOVP AND BRADFORD STREETS: <br />1. Stop signs be installed on Hamilton Street at each of its intersections with Marshall Street. <br />2. Stop signs be installed on Bradford Street at each of its intersections with Hamilton Street. <br />
