fear that sante of nV friends on the council and their adherents will try to brand me with
the stigma of an impeder of progress; as one who wants to stifle the growth of the
community; but because of nV deep respect for lax and order and my concern for the wel-
fare
etfare of all the people, and in order that I may be the better enlightened and the
better enabled to perform my duties as a councilman, I am constrained to take the chance
of bringing their ire upon bald head.
` Before I proceed further, I would ask that the City Clerk read the leter of August
8, 1956, written to Oddstadt Hames by our Water Superintendent in re Farm Hill No. 1,
Water Meter Installations and the response thereto by Oddstadt Homes under date of Aug.
PON 10, 1956.
6w "Attention of Mr. Herbert Frahm, Chief Engineer
Re: Farm Hill No. 1 - Water Meter Installation
Gentlemen:
We which to reply to your recent request for the installation of water meters
in Farm Hill Subdivision No. 1 as follows.
,,. You are aware, I am sure, of an existing sixty (60) day agreement, dated June
22, 1956, between the Oddstad Homes and the City of Redwood City relative to water
service ,in the Farm Hill Subdivision in which the City agrees to serve water from the
Hetch Hetchy connection at the Carson Reservoir site, but assumes no responsibility
for the continuity of service.
It was our understanding at that time that the sixty (60) day time limit was
deemed sufficient by you to complete, the Farm Hill No. 1 water system, including
automatic controls.
Before setting the meters and acceptance of the Farm Hill No. 1 water system
by the City for maintenance and operation, we feel that the following items should
be competed.
1. All water lines.in the Farre Hill Subdivision No. 1 have been tested,
chlorinated and samples approved by the Cook Research Laboratory, with the exception
of the lines in Country Club Drive, within the boundaries of Farm Hill No. 1. These
samples have not been tested by the Cook Research Laboratory. Our inspector will
endeavor to obtain the samples tomorrow, August 9, 1956, and deliver them to the Cook
Research Laboratory.
2. All valves and fire hydrants, including fire hydrant leg valves with
mom valve boxes and covers shall be installed according to plans and specifications and
be operatable at all time.
3. Fence around the 150,000 gallon steel storage tank site should be in-
stalled.
!t. Drain line for overflow from tank should be installed.
5. At the Carson Reservoir pump house site, the existing City owned con-
crete drain pipe crossing the former McBride property should be checked again and if
damaged should be repaired by our construction operations. Following approval by
our inspector, connection of this 12 inch line should be made to your 42 inch con-
crete storm sewer.
6. Clean out and check all floor drains in the pump house.
7. Rod the suction side of the 25 ho p. pump.
8. Make all changes in the panel board and controls as previously agreed
upon including time delary and the Bristol equipment additions.
9. , Paint the pump house including woodwork.
10. Replace damaged City owned cyclone fence at pump house site.
11. All water services ending at meter location should be installed
according to plans and specifications and/or as previously recorrnnended by Water
Department inspector.
12. The approval of all equipment, installations and their operations in the
pump house and the tank controls should be obtained from the supplier and installer
prior to acceptance by the City.
13. This department should be supplied with a complete set of plans showing
the water system as actually constructed including plan and profile locations.
149 It is suggested that a meeting be held between all interested parties
relative to the operation and delivery of the two installed pumps under existing supply
conditions; namely, it has been noted that the combined delivery of the 25 and 75 h.po
pumps in approximately the same as that of the 75 h.p. pump operating alone.
15. Grading around the purr house should be designed to divert storm water
away from the structure of the building.
16. The construction of an access road from Farm Hill Boulevard through.
City owned property to the pump house site and the paving of an adequate area satisfac-
tory to the City around the pump house should be as determined by the City Engineer
and Water Superintendent.
