2RG <br />owner donated the property, for the street and he could not see any reason why the City couldn't go <br />along on this variance. Councilman Britschgils motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the variance be denied, seconded by Councilman Stout, Councilman Herkner <br />amended the motion to hold the matter over for one week for further study, seoonded by Councilman <br />Britschgi. Councilman Weiss raised the question if this amendment was in order. The City Attorney <br />asked that this he held up so he could check the book and asked that they continue on the the next item <br />of business. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT A RED ZONE BE ESTABLISHED FOR A DISTANCE OF r J-i'L''L'tr FEET ON THE WEST SIDE <br />OF EL COMINO REAL BETWEEN 1818 EL C lMIN0 REAL AND THE DRIVEWAY LOCATED AT 1836 EL CAMINO REAL. A <br />traffic hazard has been created by vehicles leaving the parking lot of the Three Owls Restaurant, The <br />X" <br />Traffic Committee feels that this can be eliminated by establishing a red zone at this location. <br />..o <br />Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 2104 ESTABLISHINT THE RED ZONE NOTED ABOVE and moved its <br />adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout. City Engineer Jain stated that this has to go to the Stats <br />for their approval. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Spillers and Mayor Royer being <br />noted absent. <br />Continuation of Planning Commission recommendation approval John D. Tehaney variance. The City Attorney <br />ruled that the Council would first have to vote on whether or not they -wanted the amendment, if that <br />passed then they could vote on the amendment to the motion as stated by Councilman Herkner. The <br />Mayor called for a -roll call vote on whether or not the Council wanted to allow the amendment. This <br />carried with Councilmen Stout -and Weiss voting NO and Councilman Spillers and Mayor Royer being noted <br />absent. The Mayor then called for a vote on Councilman Herkner Is amendment -to the motion to hold the <br />matter -over for one week for further studyo This carried on roll call vote with Councilmen Stout and <br />Weiss voting NO and Councilman Spillers and Mayor Royer being noted absent. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMEND STOP SIGNS BE INSTALLED ON SEVENTEENTH AVENUE AT EACH Off' ITS INTERSECTIONS %moo <br />WITH PAGE STREET AND ON PAGE STREET AT EACH OF ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH SEVENTEENTH AVENUE. The Clerk <br />read the letter. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Attorney be authorized to draw up the <br />necessary resolution, seconded by,Caancilman Weiss and carried. <br />LAND USE PERMITS GRANTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION. <br />1. Shell Oil Compasip at Five Points. The Planning Commission submitted a letter wherein it <br />was stated that the Commission is in accord with the location of the sign but felt other problems <br />might prevail, such as agreements, etc., which require Council consideration. The agreement was <br />made some time ago and now the Shell Oil Company are going to move the station and they want to move the <br />sign.again. Mr. Martin, representing the Shell Company# spoke on the question. Councilman Stout <br />moved that this be carried on the agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />2. L. Meleyco,, construct apartment in "II" District (Woodside Road and Nimitz). Councilman <br />Britschgi moved approval of the action of the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br />carried. <br />3. T. Velerga, construct service station southeast corner Middlefield Road and Chestnut. Council- <br />man Stout moed that the Council action is not necessary on these items and he moved that all council <br />action on these items be.dro <br />pped. This lost for lack of a second. This was followed by discussion. <br />Councilman Stout moed that item#2 be stricken from the record as it did not need council action. <br />There wasntt any second to the motion. No Council action was necessary. <br />49 First Western Bank construction of sign (Broadway & California). No Council action was necessary. <br />City Attorney Costello stated that he was instructed to draw up an amendment to the contract for the <br />Yacht Harbor -Dredging. Councilman Herkner spoke in regard to possible difficulties with the contractor <br />with shut down time and pay. The job was completed 24 to 30 hours after the last Council meeting. He <br />
