Couatilman Britschgi moved that the matter which Councilman Weiss brought before the Council be placed <br />before the Planning Advisor, the City Manager, City, Engineer and the City Attorney for a report back <br />to the Council in thirty days, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried with Councilman Weiss voting <br />NO. <br />Acting Mayor Granger reported on the Civilian Defense meeting. He stated that Mr. McDonald has recommended <br />that they abolish the joint cities -county board. Councilman Granger stated that Redwood City has <br />been represented at approximately 99% of the meetings. He spoke about his discussion and Westioning <br />of Mr. Koch in regard to his previous statments in regard to the Civilian Defense and also in regard <br />to asking for inspection of Redwood City facilities. Councilman Granger suggested that a motion be <br />made calling on the State of California to make an investigation to make recommendations where changes <br />are needed and to congratulate the departments that are.in order. Councilman Herkner so moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Acting Mayor Granger asked that a resolution be drawn up for next meeting so they can adjourn in memorium <br />of Lt. Col. Wayne L. Wells. <br />Claims numbering 20230 through 20370, totaling $93,234&65, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman <br />Stout, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. M. <br />Invocation was lead by Reverend John J. Fast, Free Methodist Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Robert <br />V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout, Louis Weiss, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge, Council- <br />man Carl A. Britschgi was noted absent. Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Engineer <br />Glenn M. Jain, City Attorney Robert Costello, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Fire Chief J. L. <br />Lodi, Building Inspecoter S. H. Kreiss, Police Chief William Faulstich, Recreation Director Alfred <br />Morton, Planning Commissioner Vincent Rambo, Library Board Member Norris Cummings, Assistant Water <br />Superintendent Warren Mitchell, Assistant to City Manager L. A. Kimballo Personnel Board Member <br />William Goggin and Account -Clerk Vivan Holmquist. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, 1956-57 WEED ABATEMENT ASSESSMENT. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman <br />Spillers moved,that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. The <br />affidavit of posting was ordered filed. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 2105 CONFIRMING THE <br />1956-57 WEED ABATEMENT ASSESSMENT and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried <br />on roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCE, VINCENT RAMBO WHO PRESENTED THE CITY with the. San Mateo County Centennial Particip- <br />ation Award to the Redwood City Committee of Centennial for outstanding service and showmansip <br />rendered to San Mateo County Fair and Floral Fiesta. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT REGARDING PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION TOABANDON AND BLOCK OFF SMALL <br />TRIANGULAR PARK IN THE VICINITY OF ANAMOR, KENTUCKY, ETC. The City Attorney reported that the <br />property dedicated on the Subdivision map as a park could be abandoned and sold pursuant to a procedure <br />established by State law. He suggested that the Council consider retaining so much of the park as <br />was necessary to connect the walkways so that no rights of way would be abandoned.
