TEHANY and moved its adoption, s econ&d by Councilman Granger. Councilman Weiss asked what the further study was. City Attorney Costello stated that this was discussed by himself and the Planning Advisor and they found it was in the best interest of the City to grant this variance. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. INTRODUCTION CF AMENDMENT TO SALARY ORDINANCE TO INCREASE SALARY RANGE FOR LEADINGMEN. The Attorneyread the ordinance. Councilman Spillers introduced ORDINANCE 830 AMENDING SECTION NO. 2 CF, AND ADDING CERTAIN NEN SECTIONS TO, ORDINANCE NO. 821 TO INCREASE THE SALARY FOR THE POSITIONS OF PARR, SEVER, STREET AND WATER LEADINGMEN and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. RESOLUTION 2109 CRANTING VARIANCE TO J. URRERE TO ALLONf TWO CAR GARAGE AT REAR OF RESIDENCE (20 HILLTOP DRIVE) was introduced by Councilman Spillers who moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried on roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. RESOLUTION 2110 GRANTING VARIANCE TO M. TESOLINI TO ALLON TEN FOOT REAR YARD INSTEAD OF FIFTEEN FEET (ALDEN AND ALLERTON) was offered by Councilman Weiss who moved its adoption$ seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried aft roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. COMMUNCIATION UNITED BAY AREA CRUSADE REGARDING PAYROLL DIDUCTION PLAN FOR CITY EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTCRS TO THE FUND. The Clerk read the letter. Councilman Spillers moved torefer this to the Redwood City Employees' Association for their recommendation and if they have 20% or more employees signing up for the deduction then the Council will go for the payroll deduction plan. Sign—up must be voluntary. This motion was seconded by Councilman Weiss. Kr. Goggin asked the Council what they would do if 19% of the employees signed up. The Mayor stated that if the sign-up was that close they would still consider the payrolldeduction. The 20% figure was used for bookkeepting purposes only. The motion carried. COMMUNICATION FROM DALE STUART REGARDING ZONING OF LOT 7, BLOCK G, WOODSIDE ACRES. The Clerk read the letter of written protest wherein Mr. Stuart asked that this property, be zoned so his apartment would be of conforming use. He would appreciate the Council considering his position in the development of this property, which consists of approximately 38,00 square feet. Councilmen Granger moved that this communication be filed, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. Councilman Spillers stated that he feels that it is only fair to tell Mr. Stuart what procedure he can follow. The Mayor stated that next week the ordinance will be introduced and Mr. Stuart can be heard at that time. The Mayor announced that a study meeting will be held on Wednesday with regard to the rail at Bair Island property and also the Department Head salaries. The meeting with the emerald Lake people with regard to water services will be postponed. On October 3rd the Council is to meet at the Eagles Hall to meet the 49ers. The Mayor asked the Clerk to notify, the people in the Emerald Lake area that the meeting will be on October lith. Sayor Royer announced that Councilman Granger was elected to the position of Vice President for the Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities. Councilman Spillers announced that he mas going to hold the committee meeting on the Oaklay Tract on September 27th at 4 P. M. Councilman Spillers spoke on the matter of the smag coming from the cities north of Redwood City.
