NICHOLAS, 68 ELWOC® STREET., REQUESTING PERMIT TO HAVE THE REMAINING 90 FENT PAVED IN THE PARKING AREA AT 3115-3119 BROADWAY. The City Engineer stated in his letter that the property owners on Broadway adjacent to this property have filled in the parkway area with concrete without a permit from the City. It has been the policy of the City in the past to permit only paving of parkways in front of public or semi-public buildings., and in industrial and commercial area. This is a residential areas and the parkway is over four feet in width$ which allows sufficient room for tree planting and landscaping. As in the pasts he does not recommend that any parkways in residential areas be paved or concreteds in'order to eliminate the appearance of a cowrwmercial area. Councilman Britschgi asked that they include in the motion that the property owner will have to assume responsibility if this has to be torn up for .emergency utility repairs or services. This was included in the motion which Councilman Britschgi seconded. Councilman Granger stated that this should be made in agreement form. This was also included in the motion which carried. RENEWAL CF USED AUTOMOBILE PERMIT, CLARKSON MOTORS., 155 El Camino Reals R. C., Councilman Britschig moved that the permit be granteds seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion after which City Collector Perrin recommended that the permit be allowed as this was a routine proce- dure. The Mayor asked that in the future that the City Manager check into these permits and make a report. This w as again followed by discussion after which the motion carried. RESOLUTION TO HAVE SPRUCE STREETS OR AN ALTERNATE., CONNECT FROM FIVE POINTS TO BAYSHORE FREEWAY. City Attorney Costello read the resolution at the request of Councilman Weiss. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 2118 REQUESTING AND THAT SPRUCE STREET., CR A REASONABLE PARALLEL ALTERNATIVE ROUTE., BE ESTABLISHED AS A STATE HIGHWAY TO CONNECT BAYSHORE FREEWAY AND THE INTER- SECTION OF WOODSIDE ROAD AND EL CAMINO REAL IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY and moved its adoptions seconded by Councilman Weiss and c arri.ed on roll call. Councilman Spillers offered ORDINANCE 831 REPEALING SECTIONS NO. 125 AND 191., AND AMENDING SECTION NO. 190 OR ORDINANCE NO. 758., BEING THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE., TO ABOLISH ANGLE PARKING ON ANY STREET AND TO ESTABLISH PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE AS ONE-WAY STREET SOUTHEASTERLY FROM WINSLOW STREET TO JEFFERSON AVENUE and moved its adoption., seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll call.
