N(Y-'d, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TIT CITY OF REDWOOD CITY: <br />In grateful recognition and acnowledgment of a long record of outstanding public <br />service rendered by Carl A. Britschgi as Councilman of the.City of Redwood City, <br />this Council does hereby express and extend to said Carl A. Britschgi the sincere <br />appreciation, commendation and best wishes of the Council and the people of the <br />City of Redwood City. <br />Councilman Granger brought to the attention of the Council the Foster & Kleiser sign on Bayshore Highway <br />adjacent to Main Street entrance directing the attention. of the public to Palo Alto Shopping Center. <br />Councilman Granger moved that Councilman Spillers be allowed to leave the State, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that Councilman Spillers be allowed to leave the State, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Weiss spoke about an article appearing in. the Tribune paraising Fire Marshal Asvos. Councilman <br />Weiss stated that this indicative of the high caliber of our staff and the readiness of the public <br />to recognize courtesy and efficiency. The Mayor read a letter from Johnny Mads complimenting Fire <br />Chief Lodi, Assistant Chief Leslie, Fire Marshal Asvos and the entire Fire Department for the manner <br />in which hey went about their duties in putting out the fire in their restaurant on December 3rd. <br />Councilman Herkner suggested that a copy of this letter be. sent to the Board of Fire Underwriters. <br />Councilman Stout moved to give Councilman Weiss permission to leave the State in January, 1957, seconded <br />by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Stout stated that most of the benches have been put out. There are 3 more benches to be placed.. <br />He was of the -opinion that they should send out some more letters to the Service Clubs asking if they <br />want to take part in the bench program. <br />Councilman Britschgi asked the Clerk to read his letter of resignation from the Council effective December ona <br />31, 1956, so he may assume his obligations as an Assemblyman of the State of California for this <br />district. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the letter of resignation effective December 31st, <br />seconded by Councilman Herkner who added accept the resignation with regret. The motion carried. <br />Claims 21039 through 21235, totaling $139,019.95, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Spillers, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />I <br />City Attorney Costello stated that he received a letter from Attorney Lebsack for Oddstad Homes asking <br />that the City accept the sewer in Farm Hills. Mr. Costello recommender that the bond on the October <br />agreement only be exonerated. Councilman Spillers so moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded, by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />Meeting adjourned, 10:20 P.
