261 <br />of Occupancy, as required in Section 306 of this Code. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to uphold the Planning Commission's recommendation to deny the permit, .seconded <br />by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />PARK AND REC11vATI0N COflIMISSION RECOMMENDATION TURF AND INSTALL SPRINKLERS, CIRCLE P RK ADJACENT TO SEQUOIA <br />HOSPITAL, 1957-58 BUDGET. The Commission requested the Council to give consideration to the turfing and <br />mom installation of a sprinkler system in Circle Park, adjacent to Sequoia Hospital on Whipple Avenue. The <br />r.. estimated cost of this project is $1,835.00. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Spillers moved to <br />refer this to the City Manager for costs, etc. to take up at the budget study meetings for 1957-58, seconded <br />by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REC0121ENDATION REGARDING ACRUISTION OF LANDS FOR RECREATION PURPOSES. The Clerk <br />read the letter wherein the Commission stated their wishes in regard to acquistion of land for recreation <br />purposes. They asked the Council to consider the acquistion of a ten to f ifteen.acre site in the hills <br />behind Redwood City for future park and recreation use. Councilman Weiss moved to have the Mayor set a <br />study meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission and the members of the Council to discuss this matters <br />seconded by Councilman Stout. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that <br />this should be referred to the Land Use Committee for a report in regard to the Master Plan. The motion <br />carried. <br />The Mayor. called attention to the study meetings. It was decided to change Tuesdays meeting from 7:30 P. M. <br />to 8;00 P. rd. to take up the Personnel Board recommendation and the truck ordinance. <br />USE PERhaTS GRANTED B`r THE PLANNING CO11MISSION: <br />1. Auto Repair Shop, Hancock and Willow, C -2-F District. <br />2. John McCarthy for contractor's yard Bayshore between 5th and Haven. C -1-H District. <br />3. John Shaw for Apt. Motel at 122-140-118 Harrison subject to conditions. • <br />4. Woodside Road Methodist Church, addition to building subject to conditions. <br />No Council action was necessary. <br />Councilman Stout stated th t he had a report that he would like the Clerk to prepare and mail to the Council and <br />the Police Building Committee. The Committee can decide if they want a study meeting. <br />Councilman Herkner stated that this was Councilman Britschgits last Council meeting. He wished the best of luck <br />to Assemblyman Britschgi in his new job and expressed his sorrow at the loss of Councilman Britschgi as a <br />member of the Council. Councilman Herkner offered RESOLUTION 2159 COMMENDING COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI FOR HIS <br />EFFORTS FOR THE CITY OF REDVOOD CITY and moved its adoption, this resolution to be spread upon the minutes as <br />testimonial for his work, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on ,roll cail, Councilman Britschgi not <br />voting. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2159 <br />WHEREAS, Carl A. Britschgi has well and faithfully served the people and the Council of <br />the City of Redwood City in the Office of City Councilman for a period of sixteen years; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, Carl A. Britschgi did fulfill the obligations and perform the duties in connection <br />with the Office of Councilman of the City of Redwood City in an outstanding, skillful and <br />pp" <br />efficient manner and did continually and faithfully serve and protect the best interests <br />of the people of the City of Redwood City in a manner in keeping with the best traditions <br />of public service; and, <br />'UHEILIUS, it is the intention and desire of this Council to acknowledge the services <br />rendered to the City of Redwood City by Carl A. Britschgi, and to extend to him the <br />sincere best wishes of the Council and the people of the City of Redwood City; <br />
