The motion carried. <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT ON PARKING LOT 3. In his report, the City Manager submitted copies of the following <br /> financial statistics relating to the operation of Parking District No. 1: <br /> 1. Statement of Bond Interest to July 1, 1957, prepared by the City Auditor and City Treasurer. <br /> 2. Statement of Finances as of November llt, 1956, submitted by the City Auditor at the request <br /> of the City Manager. <br /> 3. Interim Examination of accounts, as of October 31, 1956, prepared by C. G. Uhlenberg and <br /> Company, submitted to the Council under date of December 7, 1956. <br /> The Mayor briefed the Council and the public of previous action taken at the study meeting. The <br /> Attorneys are proceeding with the acquistion and the City Engineer will proceed with the plans for <br /> Parking Lot 3. This was followed by discussion in regard to the financial report. Mr. Thomas <br /> Tuite, Jr. stated that he wanted to know if there was any may in which the financing could be extended <br /> over the whole City rather than just charging the merchants down town and the down town property <br /> owners. This w".s followed by discussion. The Mayor stated that this matter will be held for a <br /> study meeting on Wednesday, January 16th, and Mr. Adamson will try to attend the meeting. Councilman <br /> Spillers moved to accept the City Manager's report, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT ON STATUS OF STREET AND HIGHWAY SURVEY. The Clerk read the report of the City Manager <br /> . and also a letter from Hahn, Nise and Associates. The Land Use Plan has been understudy by the <br /> Planning Commission for some time and at their meeting of January 8th the Planning Commission set <br /> public hearings on the Land Use Plan for January 22nd and February 12th. It is hoped that after the <br /> public hearings this plan can be referred to the City Council for their approval. <br /> Larry Wise is going to refer the Street and Highway Plan, in its preliminary stage, to the Traffic <br /> Fact Finding Committee and to the Planning Commission with the next two weeks. The Land Use Plan oul <br /> mid <br /> will probably be adopted officially by the Planning Commission in February, and the Street and <br /> Highway 'lan will follow approximately one month later. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the <br /> report, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br /> - CITY MANAGER REPORT ON SEQUOIA HOSPITAL REQUEST FOR FILL, COST, ETC. The Clerk read the report and also <br /> a memorandum to the City.Manager from the City Engineer. The City Engineer, in his memorandum, <br /> stated that the estimate cost of transportation and also the estimate value of the excavated material. <br /> It is estimated that there will be approximately 11,500 cubic yards of material available at the site, <br /> of which the Sequoia Hospital has requested 6,500 cubic yards. It is probable that the City could <br /> use most of the material at various lacations, or could stokpile it at some convenient location for <br /> future use. <br /> The City Manager suggested that he be instructed, together with the City Attorney and City Engineer, <br /> to negotiate with the hospital's representatives, in an endeavor to accommodate the hospital's <br /> requirements, under the most favorable terms that may be mutually agreeable to bothe parties con- <br /> ...i <br /> cerned. Council:an Spillers recommended that the City should keep the fill. Councilman Spillers <br /> moved to accept the City Manager's suggestion, seconded by Councilman Stout. The City Engineer <br /> - spoke on the subject and stated his reasons why he felt the City should stock pile the fill. The <br /> motion carried. <br /> Councilman Granger asked that the widening of Harbor Blvd. be 1placed on the agenda and so moved, <br /> the Cit Manager to make an immediate study as to the availability of the fill and-the possibility <br /> of widening Harbor Blvd., seconded by Councilman Stout. This was followed by discussion. City <br /> Engineer Jain stated th t the fill that if left is approximately 17,000 c.�bic yards which probably <br /> would help widen Harbor Blvd. <br /> p 5 or 6 feet.
