The motion lost <br /> on roll call with a 4 to 3 vote, Councilmen Granger, Herkner, Stout and Weiss voting <br /> No. <br /> The Mayor called a recess at 10:15 p.m. and called the meeting back to order at 10:20 p.m. <br /> PENINSULA CELEBRATION ASSOCIATION asked for permission to erect a banner and decorations <br /> across Broadway to call attention to the L.th of July celebration. The Mounted Patrol <br /> wanted the PCA to include in their request permission to erect a banner for the "ft] <br /> Mounted Patrol also. Councilman Stout moved approval of the request subject to the <br /> necessary insurance, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> MURPHY & HASTINGS REQUEST ABANDONMENT PUBLIC UTILITIES EASEMENT, WOODSIDE TERRACE NO. 7. <br /> M. J. King Company asked that proceedings be instituted to abandon a portion of the <br /> Public Utility easement traversing the rear of Lot 6, Block 2, Woodside Terrace <br /> Subidiision No. 7. They included a map, a legal description of the portion of ease- <br /> ment to be abandoned, and a letter of acquiescence from the Pacific Telephone and <br /> Telegraph Company. The City Engineer had already received a letter of concurrence <br /> from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. City Engineer Jain stated that he approved <br /> the request for abandonment of a portion of the easement. Councilman Stout moved to <br /> allow the abandonment of the easement as requested, City Attorney to prepare the <br /> necessary resolution, .seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. . <br /> Councilman Stout offered ORDINANCE 862 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 665 RELATING TO <br /> CIVIL DEFENSE AND DISASTER COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP TO PROVIDE THAT THE CITY MANAGER SHALL <br /> BE VICE CHAIRMAN AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DEFENSE AND DISASTER, AND SETTING <br /> FORTH THE DUTIES THEREOF and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss and <br /> carried on roll call. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. <br /> ' INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE REVISING WATER CONNECTION CHARGES. The City Attorney stated that <br /> this ordinance was not prepared. Councilman Stout moved that this matter be carried <br /> on the agenda for two weeks, seconded by Councilman Weymouth. Councilman Granger <br /> asked What the reason was for this ordinance. The City Attorney stated that the Council <br /> asked that they revise the charges for water connections. The motion carried. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF AMENDMENT TO APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE. The City Attorney read the title of <br /> the proposed ordinance. Councilman Herkner asked if Ordinance No. 516 pertained to <br /> the sinking fund. The City Attorney stated that Ordinance 516 was passed in 1945 and <br /> did not specifically refer to any particular fund but was a general appropriation. <br /> Councilman Spillers offered introduction of ordinance being an appropriation ordinance <br /> of the City of Redwood City for the fiscal year July 1, 1957-June 30, 1958, appropriating <br /> anticipated revenues of various city funds for specified purposes: providing for the <br /> disposition of unexpended unencumbered moneyes in various special funda at the close <br /> of the fiscal year July 1, 1956-June 30, 1957; providing for emergency appropriations <br /> and transfers, expenditure of the moneys appropriated herein for the purposes stated <br /> herein; and repealing Ordinance No. 516, adopted January 15, 191+5, seconded by Council- <br /> man Weymouth.
