following prepared statement:
NLast week this appropriation ordinance was introduced in due form, I then expressed '
my views and indicated that in view of the situation as they presently exist, and to ,
avoid gossible embarassing situations that would be created by failure to provide the
appropriations involved, I deemed advisable to acquiesce with the procedure recom-
mended by our Gity Attorney, but with the disinct underata.nding that I hoped action
would follow th at would a void continued recurrence of the same practice as to fiscal I,
- procedures and policies in future years.
At our study meetirg of last Faednesday, he Honorable Mayor indicated that he would
arrange to have corrective measures taken. Therefor, I again repeat my acquiescence ;
to the favorable passage of this ordinance. • ',
However, since the Tribune in its report of our action at our June lOth meeting on I
this ordinance, conve yed to the people the impression that all it involved was the '
approval of the 2,058,298 budget submitted by the ity Manager earlier this month, ,
I deem it appropriate to apprise this council and the people that introduction snd '
passage of this ordinance involves a total of some 3:718,000, tYieamount necessary I
and which more nearly represents the eventual perational costs of our municipal
operations during the comin year. OP course the latter figure of 3,718,000 includes '
. sueh activities as the Water Department, the Sewer Rental Fund, Parkin D3s trict #1
Bond Redemption and Interest, and certain other special activities. " '
