John Qillanders representing the Farn Hill Ca�nr- <br /> munity Assoca.ation� read a prepared statement endorsing the statements and petitions opposing the pra- <br /> posed R-3-G zonang at Jefferson and Farm Hill Boazlevard made and filed as part of the record in the <br /> Master Land Use Pl.an hearings by the various residents of the Farm Hill Development. He presented a <br /> petition with 51 additional signatures, Tn his statement� Mr. Gillanders took exception to the action <br /> o� the Planning Commission. Planning Commissioner Greenwold took issue with the statements made by Mr. <br /> Gi.11anders and. on a point of order was asked to refrain frc�m personalties. Councilman Spillers moved <br /> that Mr. Greernrold could continue with his statement� seconded by Cauncilr.�an 'Neymouth. After some dis- <br /> cussion the motion carried on roll ca]1 with CouncS.l�aan �eiss voting na. <br /> Mr. Greern�rold stated that his point was that there were people in the Farm Hills area which �re anti- <br /> Oddstad. These people have a quarrel and grievance vrith Adr. Oddstad. This fact does not enter into ' <br /> the planning of the City of Redwood City. He was of the opinion that the peop].e shauld take their <br /> � problem of �r. Oddstad up �rith the County and not ].et this matter effect the overall good. of the Cit� <br /> � � <br /> of ftedwood City. He explained the reason for the Master Land Use Plan against the reasons for a use , <br /> permit and the differences in har� it effects the City of Redwood. City� Mr. Greermrold. referred to the ' <br /> development in Farm Hills in the event the R-3-G is allooved. ' <br /> Arthur Smith stated that the arguments they have wit�h �Ir. Odds�tad is on an individual basis and does <br /> not effect their reasons �or ob3ecting to the R-3� zoning. He spoke against the R-3-G �arti�� and ex- <br /> plained his reasons why he was against the proposed zoning in Farm Hills. <br /> Counei7man Stout again referred to the specifications he had asked for from the Planning Commission as <br /> to ��r they proposed the changes in zonin� and their reasons for making the changes in the Master Land <br /> Use Plan. He apoke at same length as to shy they did not receive this report. Cauncilman Spillers <br /> asked tha.t Mr. Larry �ise� the P].anning Advi.sor� come forward and make a statement in answer to Council- <br /> man Stout�s statements. Mr. Wise sta ted that the Planning Commission was of the opinion tha.t there <br /> � wrnzld be a study meeting before the matter came up tanight. They felt that at that time they could go <br /> �"' over this matter vrith the Council and then make their report and give an ans�rer and report along the <br /> lines of the questions braught up at the study meeting. Councilman Stout vrant9d to knaw why they hadn�t <br /> been given an ans�►er when this matter was first introduced to the Council. P.qr. �ise stat�d that the re- <br /> � port given to the C atnezl was made before any public hear�n�s had been held by the Pla:nning Commissian. <br /> � He stat�sd that the resolution gave the stand and thinking of the P2annirig Commi.ssion. Councilman Stout <br /> stated that he did not believe that the resolution gave their reasons wY�y they reco�mnended the changes. <br /> This was folloared by discussion. <br /> The question was raised from a member of the audience with regard to the d�.fference in the figures <br /> stated in the statement made b,y Councilman Weiss at a previous Council meetin.g with regard to the <br /> ' report made by the Planning Co�nission. Mr. Wise explained that it was correct that th� figures did <br /> not check because they pertained to an ideal city. He explained the faetors which motivated the exeess <br /> �...:.,�$=w .
