Also I call attention to Mr. Curtaz's recent letter again calling for a resonse on the
question of the water department funds and indebtedness. Mr. Curtaz has also called me over
the week end and stated that he has just been given a copy of the City Manager's letter of
March 22, addressed to the Council. He does not consider that an adequate reply and further
indicated his feeling that any reply made should be a public statement for the benefit of all
the people.
I also have a letter from the city manager to the council on the same subject, dated
April 4, I have made arrangements to discuss the subject with the City Manager to clarify certain
points before discussing the matter in open meeting. Last but not least is the question of
Rail. Crossings.
I believe that we should clear our decks of all these matters at the earliest practicable, vivid
so we can devote the necessary time to the very important topic of the budget for the coming
year, which I believe will require considerable application if the needs of the community are
to be properly financed within the presently authorized means of revenue.
Louis Weiss, Councilman.
Councilman Granger stated that the Sign Committee did meet and Mr. Davies asked for an extension
of time until he had finished with the matter of sales tax.
Councilman Granger stated that they had contacted the Southern Pacific Company about the grade
crossings and to this date they have not heard from the.
Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned, to April 29, 1957, at the hour of 8:00 P. M.,
seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
Meeting adjourned, 10:50 P.M.
