8
and than will become a busy street. It is a nightmare that residents will be forced to live on a daily
basis.Do you have any answers for this concem? Again, the proposal is very conceptual and the
actual location has not been determined. 'That will be refined and determined upon preparation of
the planning documents.
Are sidewalks required for all housing within Redwood City? Sidewalks are usually required on
Standard City Streets, but may not be required on private streets or sub-standard streets. The
actual street design will be deteimined during project review and approvals.
The report mentions selling the property to some entity willing to purchase and own and create
open space. Were any groups approached and made aware of this property? Do you have a listing
of such groups that county residents would be able to approach? This was only mentioned as an
option. The City Council, if it so desires, can direct staff to pursue this option (although it is not
recorrunended).
Although this land does not fit the direction of the Pazk Dept's sporting fields, are there other
types of parks that might be considered? Accessibility to Redwood City is mentioned in the report
as a limiting factor for this land's usage. Brewster Avenue is a very direct route to the area and
wondered if that route might be considered into the development or why it isn't being considered
as an entry way. Again, this was based on a discussion with our Parks Department. The planning
documents (Precise Plan and accompanying traffic studies) vill examine that issue.
The size of the homes that will be built is a very large concern of surrounding neighbors. We are
seeing 2 and 3 story homes being built and are afraid the development will follow suit. Homes of
that size will destroy our privacy and would like to see that avoided for this neighborhood by
having county residents involved in the planning stage rather than after this land is in the hands of
a developer. Are there any plans to involve the county residents in the planning stage? Staff is
also concerncd about the scale and size of the buildings. For this reason we are proposing a
Precise Plan to berier regulate the size and mass. Again, the Precise Plan wll be subject to public
hearings and the county residents can participate in that review and discussion.
I hope you might be able to answer some of the questions and concerns I've mentioned.
Thank you,
Virginia Bobadilla
A Hillcrest Drive Resident
County Neighbor
wil
