21.E <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />August 18, 1958s 8:00 P. M. <br />Invocation was led by Reverend E. R. Scratch, Assembly of God Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, John S. <br />Rosselli, Robert Spillers, Louis Weiss$ Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Councilman <br />Ray Weymouth was noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, <br />Planning Director William Rodgers, Police Chief William Faulstich, Deputy City Engineer Mel Moen, Water <br />Superintendent H. L. Winter, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Engineering Assistant <br />John Mincey and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist. �I <br />Councilman Herkner moved approval of the minutes of August 4th and lith as mailed, seconded by Councilman <br />Rosselli and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE ADOPTION OF OFFICIAL PLAN LINES ON ROSE AVENUE BETWEEN BAY ROAD AND PAGE STREET. <br />The affidavit of publication and notice of mailing were ordered filed. There being no proteI written or <br />oral, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, second$d by Councilman Rosselli and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to instruct the City Attorney to prepare the necessary resolution setting the <br />plan lines, seconded by Councilman Rossellis, After some discussion, the motion carried on roll call with <br />Councilman Weiss voting no and Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PLANNING COMMISSION'S RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO AMEND ORDINANCE N0. 600 TO REZONE LOTS <br />2, 4 AND 6, AND PORTIONS OF LOTS 7, 8 AND 93, BLOCK I, AND LOTS 2 AND 4, BLOCK B, WO®SIDE ACRES MAP NO. 1 <br />FROM R-2 TO R -3-G DISTRICT (Properties fronting on the west side of Hudson Street from 398' north of Palm �! <br />Avenue to Palm Avenue and from 591' south of Palm Avenue to Palm Avenue) - P.C. file #58-147. The notice <br />41 <br />of mailing was ordered filed. After considerable discussion with the majority of the people present pro- <br />testing the rezoningg Councilman Spillers moved that the public bearing be closed, seconded by Councilman <br />Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the Council approve the Planning Commission's recommendation excepting Lots <br />2 and 4, Block B, and instructed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary ordinance to rezone the prop- <br />erty from R-2 to R -3-G. This motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to instruct the City Attorney to prepare the ordinance rezoning the property <br />from R-2 to R -3-G District. This motion also lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to rezone Lots 2 and 4, Block B, and delete Lots 2, 4 and 6, Block I, from the <br />proceedings., and instructed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary ordinance to rezone to R -3-G, see- <br />onded by Councilman Herkner. The motion lost on roll call with a tie vote, Councilmen Granger, Rosselli, <br />and Weiss voting no, Councilmen Herkner, Spillers and Mayor Royer voting yes, and Councilman Weymouth being <br />note absent. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the matter be taken under consideration for re -study by the Council and be <br />carried on the agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />I <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PLANNING COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATION TG REZONE LOTS 3, 4 AND 6, BLOCK 9p KENSINGTON <br />SQUARE (southerly corner of Jefferson Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas) FROM R-1 TO C -N DISTRICT(P.C. file <br />#58-142). The notice of mailing was ordered filed. After listening to the discussion, Councilman Weiss <br />moved that the public hearing be continued for one week, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. Coun- <br />cilman Granger moved that the copy of the questions and answers sheet be given to the applicant (Council- <br />man Weiss' questions). After discussion, Councilman Granger withdrew his motion. <br />
