380 <br />Park Department Corporation Yard., $135,00: Discussion followed regarding the nded for a separate yard, <br />the thought being that the yard could be combined with the present Corporation Yard. The suggested loc- <br />ation of the neer yard was the Baird Lumber Co. property, however, some councilmen present thought this <br />area should be eventually added to the Community Park. City Manager Neal was directed to check the <br />following: (a) Contact the County regarding the County regarding the County Corporation Yard; (b) <br />Check the advantages and disadvantages of combining the two yards; and (c) Check prices of the Baird <br />Lumber Company property. <br />Library lift for books, $20,000, Considerable discussion as to necessity for this item. Check further <br />into possibility of a conveyor belt. <br />City Corporation Yard : See remarks above under Park Department Corporation Yard. <br />City Hall Enlargement; $160,000: Included in this amount is the sum of $55,000 to cover the construction 4wo <br />of the now Council Chambers. It was the opinion of the Council that this feature should be eliminated, to <br />continue using the Supervisors, Chambers, and in the event this location becomes unavailable, Veterans - <br />Building could supply quarters. This reduces the amount to cover enlargement to $105,000. <br />STREETS AND OVERPASSES: <br />It was generally conceded that Spruce Street widening and extension from E1 Camino'Real to Bayshore, <br />including Interchange at E1 Camino Real, should be No. 1 priority. Meetings have been held with Division <br />of Highways and plans are under way. <br />Widening of the Alameda: After discussion it was decided that this pr6posal should be reduced to widen- <br />ing Alameda from Harding to Whipple Avenue and from Edgewood Road to Eaton Avenue. <br />Item No. 5, Hopkins Avenue widening and extension was dropped. <br />Industrial Way extension, $90,000: Check if Gas Tax moneys are available. This would be done under <br />assessment district proceedings. <br />East-West Traffic Route: Wilsey & Ham are conducting studies for the County. County will be contacted <br />regarding the hiring of this firm to study this proposal. <br />New Bridges and Culvert Projects: Consensus of opinion was to work on the 2/3 City, 1/3/assessment district <br />to finance the amount indicated. There was some discussion regarding the Franklin Street Culvert as to <br />location. Further study of this item was requested. <br />MAYLANS APPLICATION FOR CLOSE OUT SALE PERMIT. After considerable discussion, Councilman Granger moved that the <br />matter be referred to the City Manager who would arrange for a check of the inventory and report back to <br />the Council meeting December ?• Motion seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />On motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded by Councilman Rosselli, Extension of traffic ;study contract with <br />EBASCO SERVICES to March 31, 1960 was authorized. Motion carried. (MINUTE ORDER x`59.208) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2921 was offered by Councilman Spillers who moved adoption, seconded by Councilman R osselli, <br />authorizing agreement with George Nolte covering airphotos service. The sum of $1,332.24 is included in <br />the present budget. Motion carried unanimously on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2922 CONGRATULATING THE SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACH JOE MARVIN FOR A SUCCESSFUL <br />YEAR was offered by Councilman RosselU who moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried <br />unanimously on roll call. <br />City Manager Neal and City Attorney Costello made progress reports on the following items: <br />Bayshore Industrial Park No. 1 <br />Proposed addition to Parking District - purchase of P.G.&E. property <br />Negotiations with Leslie Salt regarding Marina <br />City Manager Neal was directed to secure estimate of cost of consulting engineer's services in regard to reser- <br />voir roof on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried.
