<br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting
<br />Redwood City Council
<br />May 4, 19591 8:80 P. M.
<br />Invocation was led by Reverend Ralph Benson, North Fair Oaks Community Church.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following Were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D.
<br />Herkner, John S. Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk
<br />R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Manager James Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, City
<br />Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Police Chief William Faulstich, Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel,
<br />Assessor- Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector S. E. Kreiss and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist.
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of April 27th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Fields and
<br />carried.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PETITION CF EUGENE & ADELE GIOVANNONI, PETER & MARIE GIOVANNONI AND AURELIO DAL PORTO
<br />to amend Section 44 of Ordinance No. 600 to rezone from C -1 -H -F District to R-4 District portions of
<br />Lots "lettered "C" and "E" as shorn on that certain map entitled "Map No. 2 of Wooster, Whitton &
<br />Montgomery's Subdivision of a part of the Redwood Farm," located approximately at 149 Roosevelt Avenue
<br />adjacent to Superior Market. The affidavits of notift were ordered filed. The Planning Commission
<br />recommended unanimous approval of the rezoning. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman
<br />Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />Councilman Spillers moved introduction of an ordinance amending Ordinance No, 600, the Zoning Ordinance,
<br />to rezone portions of Lots "C" and "E", Wooster, Whitton and Montgomery's Subdivision of a part of
<br />Redwood Farm, from C-1�-H-F District to R -k District, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PETITION OF CHESTER F. & GRACE C. HUBBARD to amend Section 4 1 of Ordinance No. 600
<br />to rezone frau R-1 District to R-3 District, Lot 10, Block 1, Resubdivision Portions of Blocks 1 and 21
<br />of Subdivision PA" of Wellesley Park, Redwood City, California, located at 40 Claremont Avenue. The
<br />affidavits of notice were ordered filed. The Planning Commission recommends that the application be
<br />denied, however, they did include this land with the R-3 District in the area and have initiated action
<br />to rezone all of the area to R-3*G District. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman.
<br />Rosselli moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
<br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be authorized to prepare the necessary ordinance to
<br />rezone the property to R -3-G (MINUTE CRDER #59-33)s seconded by Councilman Rosselli. After discussion,
<br />Councilman Rosselli withdrew his second. Councilman Herkner seconded the motion which carried on roll
<br />call with Councilmen Fields, Granger, Herkner and Spillers voting yes, Councilmen Rosselli and Weymouth
<br />voting no and Mayor Royer abstaining because of business interest. -
<br />The Planning Commission, on its own initiative, recommends to the Council of the City of Redwood City that
<br />Sections lt.l and 4.3 of Ordinance No. 600 be amended to rezone the hereinafter described real property
<br />from R-1 and R-3 Districts to R -3-G Districts. The property to be rezoned is as follows: All of lots
