30� <br />30 <br />The Committee recommended that the Council take action by motion to support the present legislation <br />upon the condition that the above amendments be added to the bill in the State Assembly. <br />Councilman Granger moved to accept the Committee's report and approve their recommendation (MINUTE ORDER <br />#59-75), seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the Legislative Cor Attee, City Manager and City Attorney be authorized to <br />take whatever steps are necessary to get this bill passed as amended (MINUTE ORDER #59-76), seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Aaronson & Cohn, attorneys for Ad Apt Corporation, requested a reply advising them of the actual status of <br />the covering of the creek and the construeti an of a parking plaza in=:the vicinity of Bradford Street and <br />Main Street. Councilman Granger moved to authorize the City Manager to take care of the matter (MINUTE <br />CEDER #59-77), seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />The Goodwin School P. T. A. expressed their thanks to the Park Department for thier interest shoran in their <br />recent Fiesta -Val. The Plant Booth was a complete success. <br />Councilman Granger, as chairman of the Charter Committee, calked attention to the fact that the City will hold <br />an election in April of 1960 and asked that anyone who had any changes they wanted in the Charter please <br />submit them to the canriittee on or before August 1st. <br />Mayor pro -tem Spillers reported that he had been given a memo that Mrs. Walter S. Sterling, 1125 King Street, had <br />been chosen the First Annual Citizen of the year for San Mateo County. She organized the FUN AFTER 50 CLUB <br />of Redwood City which is sponsored by the Recreation Department. Councilman Rosselli moved that the City <br />Attorney be authorized to prepare the necessary resolution in honor of Mrs. Sterling# (MINUPE ORDER #59-78), <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Rossellianoved that Councilman Weymouth be Mayor prof -tem for the next weeks (MINUTE ORDER #59-79), <br />seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. Me <br />Invocation was led by Reverend Rowland Edgeworth, First Baptist Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron We Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, John <br />S. Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Mayor pro -tem Ray Weymouth and City Clerk Re S. Dodge. Mayor William He <br />C:1 <br />Royer was noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Assessor - <br />Auditor John J. Brophy, City Engineer Glenn Me Jain, Recreation Director Alfred Morton, Assistant Planning <br />Director Leonard Knittel, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Fire Chief J. Le <br />Lodi, Water Superintendent He L. Winter and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approval of the minutes of June 8th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET CF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1959 -JUNE 30, 1960. The public <br />hearing was declared open and the affidavit of publication ordered filed. Leroy Simpson, 2719 Whipple Avenue, <br />asked that the Council consider Circle -Park development in the budget. It was suggested that Mr. Simpson con- <br />tact the City Manager in his office and further outliine his plans which would then be presented to the Park <br />and Re&eation Commission for their consideration.
