305 <br />Frank So Skillmans San Mateo County Planning Directors thanked the City for their exhibit at the <br />County's Planning Parade of Progress,held an May 14the <br />Redwood City Masonic Lodge No. 168 extended their thanks and appreciation for the boxing program held <br />at their lodge hall on May 21st under the direction of Mr. Corona and Officer Weiss. <br />St. Anthony Holy Nam of Redwood City expressed their appreication to the Police Youth Club who put on <br />an exhibition of boxing and wrestling on may lith., and thanked the Police Chief and his staff of Police <br />officers for their work with the youngsters. <br />Senator Richard Do.1wig letter regarding the elimination of the Five Points Intersection, Senator- <br />Dolmig's letter went on to read as follows: "Conferences have been held with the Division of Highways <br />and City Councils$ and the Division informs me thatit has two alternative plans under study. Under tbb <br />first of these plans which is by far the less expensive., the Division would build a grade separation at <br />the railroad crossing and two one-way streets at the Five Points Intersection. Under the second plan <br />a complete interchange would be built at the intersection with all the necessary grade separations to <br />avoid any crossing of traffic. The problem which faces the Divisian planners is primarily a financial <br />one., and they inform me that the first and less expensive plan could later be converted into a complete <br />interchange in accordance with their second plan when and if the funds become available......" <br />The City of San Carlos., City of Menlo Parks Redwood City Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Super- <br />visors wrote that they had adopted resolutions in favor of the 5 Points intersection. <br />Mayor pro -tem Herkner announced that a Truck Traffic Bill had been introduced in the State Legislature <br />by Assemblyman Dahl. It is reported that this bill would prevent Cities from regulating all truck <br />traffic in the city without providing some means of a through traffic* This matter was referred to the <br />Legislative -Committee for consideration. <br />Councilman Grangerspoke about the number of signs in front of the Court House and suggested that the <br />City Manager contact the appropriate people in an attempt to have the Armed Forces combine all their <br />signs in an attempt to have the Armed Forces combine all their signs into one signs the City to pay <br />- for the cost of the sign* <br />Claims 29237 through 29375s totaling $179.,649*62s were ordered paid an motion of Councilman S pillerss seconded <br />by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that Councilman Spillers be Mayor pro -tem for the next weeks second0d by Council- <br />man Granger and carried* (MINUTE ORDER #59-70) <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried* <br />Meeting adjourned$ 9:31 P- me <br />Vivian Holmqu1sts DepuV City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />June 6s 1959$ 8:00 P.
