<br />Minutes of the Board of Equalization
<br />July 20, 1959, 10:00 A. M.
<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Equalization was called to order at 10:00 a. m., July 20, 1959 by
<br />Mayor Royer. Councilmen present were Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Ray Weymouth and Mayor Royer.
<br />Also present were City Manager Neal, City Assessor J. J. Brophy, City Clerk R. S. Dodge and City Attorney
<br />Robert Costello.
<br />Affidavit of publication of NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS was ordered filed. Mr. Kleiner, of the law firm of
<br />McEnerney & Jacobs, Hobard Bldg., San Francisco appeared to represent the San Francisco Examiner,
<br />owners of property described as Art. Block 219, Lot 7, more fully described as Lots 21, 22, 23, 240 25,
<br />26 and 27, block 8, West Redwood. City Assessor's records indicate the following correspondence on
<br />file:
<br />City Assessor's notice of increase in assessment dated March 2, 1959.
<br />McEnerney & Jacobs letter of May 10 1959•
<br />City Assessor's reply dated May 19, 1959.
<br />Protestant cited an offer to purchase property on February 2, 1958 of $8,000. Assessment for the year
<br />1959-60 has been set at $4,320 which is 54% of the above offered purchase price. In view of the above,
<br />protestant claimed present valuation was out of line. City Assessor testified that the property under
<br />discussion was assessed at the same rate as other properties in the vicinity.
<br />Councilman Weymouth moved to overrule protest, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman
<br />Granger moved to accept and confirm the returns of the City Assessor and to establish the same as the
<br />equalized roll for the City of Redwood City for 1959-60, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />There being no further protests, meeting adjourned at 10:25 a. m.

<br />Invocation was led by Reverend E. R. Scratch, Assembly of God Church.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner,
<br />John S. Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge.
<br />Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Deputy City Engineer Melvin
<br />Moen, Police Chief William Faulstich, Assessor- Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss
<br />and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist.
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of July 13th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Fields and
<br />carried.
<br />CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING ON MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS (MAIN STREET TO WALNUT STREET). The hearing
<br />was declared open. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved that the public
<br />hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2794 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND
<br />NECESSITY, MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS (MAIN STREET TO WALNUT STREET), seconded by Councilman Fields and
<br />carried unanimously on roll call.
<br />Councilman Herkner moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2795 APPROVING PLANS, PROFILES, DETAILED DRAWINGS AND
<br />SPECIFICATIONS, MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS (MAIN STREET TO WALNUT STREET), seconded by Councilman
<br />Rosselli and carried unanimously an roll call.
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO 2796 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO CCNSTRUCT
<br />CERTAIN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS, MARSHALL STREET IMPROV 71ENTS (MAIN STREET TO WALNUT STREET), seconded by
<br />Councilman Granger and carried unanimously on roll call.
<br />Councilman Fields moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2797 FIXING THE MINIMUM WAGE SCALE, MARSHALL STREET
<br />IMPROVEMENTS (MAIN STREET TO WALNUT STREET), seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried unanimously on
<br />roll call*
