Councilman Spillers moved that the City Manager set a public <br />hearing around the 16th of February at the Veterans Memorial Building and the City Manager to try to <br />get estimated cost of the election and how much money would be needed as to the cost of the install— <br />ation and cost per year for fluoridation of the City water lines, seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried• <br />The Mayor read letters from E. L. Cottingham, Redwood City Committee Against Fluoridation; George W. <br />Miners, M. Mayor Royer expressed the appreciation <br />of the Council to the Board of Supervisors for offering their chambers as a regular meeting place for <br />future Council meetings. <br />Invocation was led by City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, John S. <br />Rosselli3 Robert V. Spillers, Ray We <br />ymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also <br />present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, <br />Police Chief William Faulstich, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy,.Assistant Planning Director Leonard <br />Knittel, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, <br />Police Captain Theodore Moudakas and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of January 19th and January 26th as mailed, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />OATH OF OFFICE was given to Clyde Crippen as a member of the Veterans Memorial Commission. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE APPEAL TO THE GRANTING OF A USE PERMIT FCR THE BUILDING OF A BOWLING ALLEY, RESTAURANT <br />AND COCKTAIL LOUNGE AT THE W OODSIDE PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER. The affidavit of publication was ordered <br />filed. The Clerk read the letters of protest from Mrs. Harriet King, 1627 Kentucky Street, and Reuel <br />Dyers, 1930 Alameda de las Pulgas. After discussion, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hear- <br />�- ing be closed, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission and grant the use <br />permit subject to the seven lots adjacent to the proposed structurep be paved for parking. Police <br />Department approval, especially the cocktail bar; constructed substantially in accordance with the <br />plot plan submitted; and the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary resolution, seconded <br />by Councilman Weymouth. On Councilman Granger's suggestion, Councilman Spillers added that the plant- <br />ing on the westerly portion of the parking lot also be made a condition. The motion carried. <br />Councilman Herkner mored adoption of ORDINANCE NO. 927 AMENDING ARTICLE II OF ORDINANCE NO. 639, BEING THE <br />SIDEWALK AND DRIVEWAY GtDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, BY CHANGING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 5 <br />THEREOF TO PROVIDE FOR CCNSTRUCTION OF DRIVEWAYS TO ESTABLISHED GRADES,, OR GRADES APPROVED BY THE CITY <br />ENGINEER, AND BY ADDING TO SAID ARTICLE A NEW SECTION, NUMBERED 10.1 TO PRIVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF <br />VARIANCES AND EXCEPTIONS TO THE STRICT.
