�.3 <br />Councilman Royer moved that the City Attorney be instructed to contact the attorney for Sawyer -McCune <br />case and ask them to meet, along with their clients, in t)2e City Manager's office in an attempt to neg- <br />otiate (MINUTE ORDER #60-187)s seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. Councilman Stehle nominated Harold E. Hjertberg to the Planning <br />Commission., seconded by Councilman Royer. Councilman Rosselli moved that the nominations be closed <br />and a unanimous ballot be cast, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved introduction of an ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation <br />upon the taxable property within the City of Redwood City as revenue to carry on the various depart- <br />ments of said City for the fiscal year 1960-61j, to pay the bonded indebtedness of said City falling <br />due and becoming payable during said fiscal year together with the interest there0n, to maintain the <br />Public Library of said City during said fiscal year, to maintain the War Memorial Veterans Hall Build- <br />tng, to provide funds for the Retirement Plan, and to provide for capital improvements; and fixing and <br />levying the tax rate therfore-($1.20), seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />The City Manager reported that there were no communications for tonight's meeting. <br />Councilman Royer moved that the meeting be adjourned to next Monday night, August 29th, at the hour of 8:00 <br />p. me in the Board of Supervisor's Chambers, Hall of Justice and Records, seconded by Councilman Hemmer <br />and carried. Moore, City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Adjourned Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />August 29, 1960, 8:00 P.M. <br />Invocation was led by Reverend Father Haverland, St. Peters Episcopal Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ran W. Fieldst' Sidney D. Herkner, John S. <br />Rosselli, William H. Royer, Harold C. Stehle, Mayor Ray A. Weymouth and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Rifbjerg. <br />Councilman Granger was noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, Assistant City Attorney <br />Richard Gardella, Police Chief William Faulstich, Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel, Deputy <br />City Engineer Melvin Moen, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson and Build- <br />ing Inspector S. H. Kreiss, <br />Councilman Royer moved approval of the minutes of August 22nd as mailed, seconded by Councilman Stehle and <br />carried. <br />CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING ON ADAILS STREET CULVERT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. The public hearing was declared <br />open. There were no further written protests. Mr. Edward Edwards asked the Council if they would con- <br />tinue this matter a few minutes longer in order to give him a chance to s tudy the agenda. There being <br />no objections, Councilman Rosselli moved that the public hearing be continued until after the public <br />hearing on item two of the agenda, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO REZONE FROK R-1 DISTRICT TO R-3 <br />DISTRICT, THE REAR PORTION OF A PCR,TION CF LOT 21, VALOTA PARK, LISTED AS 1240 WOODSIDE ROAD AND Now <br />VACANT. The public hearing was declared open and the affidavits of notice were ordered filed. The <br />report of the Planning Commission was read. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Rosselli <br />moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Fields. Councillman Royer asked if the <br />plans showed where the swimming pool would be located. Len Knittel replied that the plans had been com4- <br />plated and they filed for a building permit when it was discovered that a small portion of the lot was <br />still zoned J-1. The plans show that the swimming pool will be located in the center of the buildings <br />and away from the rear property line. The motion carried. <br />
