<br />The estimated cost of the municipal improvement set forth in said
<br />Measure (F) (Corporation Yard Improvements) is the sum of $225,000,
<br />and the amount of the indebtedness proposed to be incurred for said
<br />municipal improvement is the sum of $225,000.
<br />The estimated cost of the municipal improvement set forth in said
<br />Measure (G) (City Hall Improvements) is the sum of $144,000, and the
<br />amount of the indebtedness proposed to be incurred for said municipal
<br />improvement is the sum of $144,000.
<br />The estimated cost of the municipal improvement set forth in said
<br />Measure (H) (Park and Recreation Facilities) is the sum of $595,000,
<br />and the amount of the indebtednessproposed to be incurred for said
<br />municipal improvement is the sum of $595,000.
<br />The estimated cost of the municipal improvement set forth in said
<br />Measure (I) (Municipal Auditorium) is the sum of $1,600,000 and the
<br />amount of the indebtedness proposed to be incurred for said municipal'
<br />improvement is the sum of $1,300,000. It is contemplated by the Council
<br />that the difference between said estimated cost of said improvement
<br />and the amount of said indebtedness propoosed to be incurred therefor will
<br />be contributed to the City by the Peninsula Celebration Association
<br />which will also contribute to the City the site for said auditorium com-
<br />prising approximately eleven acres of land, but the Council reserves
<br />the right in its discretion to provide otherwise for the payment of said
<br />difference or, if any of such moneys over and above the amount to
<br />be realized from the proceeds of the sale of said bonds are not available,
<br />to reduce the cost of said municipal improvement to the actual amount
<br />to be realized from the proceeds of the sale of said bonds, together with
<br />funds actually available for said improvement, and said estimated cost
<br />sherein set forth shall not be deemed to constitute a limitation or con-
<br />aidnupon the Indebtedness sinathe nce sumnof $1,300,000 shallof said bonds; heincurred onlyhowever'ath

<br />the following condition shall have been complied with, to wit: only after
<br />said site is contributed to the City, for the reason that said Measure
<br />(I) contains no provision for land acquisition.
<br />The estimated cost hereinabove stated of each such municipal im-
<br />provement includes legal and all other fees incidental to or connected
<br />with the authorization., issuance and sale of the bonds evidencing the
<br />indebtedness proposed to be incurred for such municipal improvement
<br />and the costs of printing said bonds and all other costs and expenses
<br />incidental to or connected with the issuance and sale of said bonds.
<br />SECTION 2. The said Council does hereby submit to the qualified
<br />electors of said City of Redwood City at said special municipal bond
<br />election the said measures set forth in Section 1 oft
<br />his ordinance, and
<br />designates and -refers to said measures In the farm of ballot herein-
<br />after prescribed for use at said election.
<br />(a) Said special municipal bond election shall be held and con-
<br />ducted, and the votes thereof canvassed, and the returns thereof made,
<br />and the result thereof ascertained and determined as herein provided;
<br />,and
<br />in all particulars not prescribed by this ordinance, said election shall
<br />be held as provided by law for the holding of municipal elections In
<br />said City.
<br />(b)A11 persons qualified to vote at municipal elections in said City
<br />of Redwood City upon the date of the election herein provided for shall

<br />is hereby consolidated with the General Municipal Election to be held
<br />in said City of Redwood City on April 12, 1960, all as required by and
<br />jpursuant to law; and the election precincts, polling places and officers of
<br />election within said City of Redwood City for said special municipal
<br />bond election hereby called shall be the same as those selected and
<br />designated by the Council of the City of Redwood City for said General
<br />Municipal Election by its Resolution No. 2986 entitled: "RESOLUTION
<br />AND ORDER OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
<br />DESIGNATING PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES AND APPOINT-
<br />ING MEMBERS OF PRE'C`INCT BOARDS FOR GENERAL MUNICIPAL
<br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1960", passed and
<br />adopted on February 15, 1960, to which resolution reference is hereby
<br />specifically made for a designation of the precincts polling places and
<br />officers of the special municipal bond election hereby called.
<br />(e) Only one form of ballot shall be used at said General Municipal.

<br />edness shall stamp a cross (X) in the blank space opposite the word
<br />S" on the ballot to the right of said measure, and to vote against
<br />measure and against incurring said indebtedness shall stamp a cross
<br />in the blank spacer opposite the word "NO" on the ballot to the
<br />of said measure. On absent voter ballots the cross (X) may be marked
<br />or pencil.
<br />(f) The returns of said election shall be made out and signed by the
<br />election officers and shall be by them deposited with the City Clerk, to-
<br />gether with the ballots cast at said election; and this Council shall meet at
<br />its usual meeting place and canvass said returns at its regular meeting on
<br />Monday, the 18th day of April, 1960 (being the first Monday after said elec-
<br />tion), at the hour of eight o'clock P.M. (P.S.T.) and declare the results of
<br />said special municipal bond election and the results of said General Munici-
<br />pal Election.
<br />SEaCTION 3. Said Council proposes to issue and sell bonds of said Cite
<br />of Redwood City for the respective objects and purposes, but not exceed-
<br />ing the respective amounts, specified in said measures, and each of them,
<br />if two-thirds of the qualified electors voting on each separate measure at
<br />said special municipal bond election, shall vote in favor of each of said
<br />measures; provided, however, ghat the votes cast for and against each of
<br />said measures shall be counted separately and when two-thirds of the
<br />qualified electors voting on any one of such measures vote in favor thereof,
<br />such measure shall be deemed adopted and bonds of the City of Redwood
<br />City in the aggregate amount specified in the measure or measures which
<br />carried by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the qualified electors of
<br />Ibsaid City voting on said measure or measures at said election, shall thereby
<br />e authorized to be issued and sold for the object and purpose specified in
<br />said measure or measures which received such affirmative two-thirds
<br />vote. Said bonds shall be negotiable in form and of the character known as
<br />serial, and shall bear interest at a rate not exceeding six (6) per cent per
<br />annum, payable semi-annually (except that interest for the first Year after
<br />the date of the bonds may be made payable at or before the end of said
<br />interest

<br />until the bonds are paid or until there is a sum in the treasury set apart.

<br />on the bonds as they become due, the Council of the City of Redwood City
<br />phall levy and collect a tax sufficient to pay the interest on the bonds

<br />le; provided, however, that if said bonds are authorized to be issued at
<br />id election, and it is expected that all or any part of said bonds will be

<br />e before the proceeds of a tax levied after such sale would he available
<br />pay such principal or interest, the Council, at the tune of fixing the
<br />nual tax levy, may levy a tax in an amoun.t clearly sufficient to pay
<br />portion of the principal of and interest on said bonds which it is ex-
<br />pected will become due before the proceeds of the next succeeding tax levy
<br />will be available. If the earliest maturity of the bonds is more than one
<br />Year after the date of issuance, the Council shall levy and collect annually
<br />a tax sufficient to pay the interest as it falls due and to constitute a
<br />sinking fund for the payment of the principal on or before maturity. Such
<br />taxes shall be levied and collected as other City taxes
<br />all other taxes and shall be used only for payment and in addition to

<br />4. The City Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby
<br />directed upon the passage and adoption of this ordinance, to publish the
<br />same for at least seven (7) days in the REDWOOD CITY TRIBUNE.
<br />which is a newspaper of general circulation, published at least six (6)
<br />days a week in said City of Redwood City, and such publication shall con-
<br />stitute notice of said election. No other notice of the election hereby called
<br />need be given.
<br />SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be forthwith entered upon the min-,
<br />utes of this Council and in the Ordinance Book of said City. This ordi-
<br />nance, being an ordinance calling and ordering an election, shall take
<br />effect from and after its final passage and approval.
