- 429 <br /> � � <br /> present rate; the anticipated consolidation of comnunications which <br /> will probably require use of the space in the Police building now <br /> occupied by the Personnel Department which will prompt a move of <br /> that Department; the fact that development of the Port may require <br /> location of fire services in the area of the Corporation Yard; the <br /> ,,�.,. fact that the age and construction of City Hall and the Library cause <br /> them to be incapable of much modification; whether unused school <br /> properties would meet City needs if available; and the fact that <br /> "�°" the public will have to cooperate with regard to inconvenience in <br /> location and accessibility of public buildings, if funds are not <br /> available to provide the kind of service to which they have become <br /> accustomed.. <br /> In response to question regarding afterschool programs, Director of <br /> 'Parks and Recreation Weeks advised that roving leadership will be <br /> offered at most schools rather than sport programs, and any activ- <br /> ities are open to both boys and girls. Mr. Fales observed that the <br /> City makes opportunities available for sports programs after school <br /> by providing fields, etc. , but tf�e programs are provided by the <br /> sponsors. <br /> In response to question, City Librarian Vollmayer advised that the <br /> reopening of the Fair Oaks and Schaberg Branch Libraries is working <br /> out well as far as circulation is concerned, but the Library does <br /> not have the personnel to operate satisfactorily under the present <br /> hours of pperation. He noted there have 6een many favorable com- <br /> rr�nts relating to the reopening of the branch libraries. <br /> It was suggested a study session is needed soon for discussion of <br /> the Marks-Foran Program and redevelopment, and it was decided that <br /> '""""" such a session will be held at 9:00 a.m. , Monday, March 12, 1979, <br /> at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge. <br /> �:,� <br /> Adjournment <br /> MOTION: Councilman 6ury moved, seconded by Councilman Chandler, to <br /> adjourn to a meeting with Assemblyman Robert Naylor at 8:00 a.m. , <br /> Saturday, February 24, 1979 at the Copper Shield Restaurant. <br /> The rr�tion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> Council adjourned at 12:05 p.m. <br /> JACQUELINE C.
