' <br /> � �.. <br /> Joint Meeting <br /> The City Council and the Port Comnission of the City of Redwood City <br /> met on t'�is date at 4:05 p.m. with Mayor Barrett presiding. <br /> Councilmen present: Biagi , Bury (arrived 5:45 p.m. }, Leipzig and <br /> Mayor Barrett <br /> Councilmen absent: Chandler, Norris, Rhodes <br /> Port Comnissioners present: Johnson and Chairman Mauk <br /> Port Comnissioners absent: Dragan, Keckley, Jardine <br /> Officials and staff present: City Manager Fales, City Attorney <br /> Schricker, Planning Director Schroeter, Planner III Schoenfeld, City <br /> Clerk Hildebrand and Port Manager DiPietro <br /> S ecial Area Plan <br /> �� See S ecial Area Plan Stud - Redwood City Waterfront/Port Area - <br /> Fina eport o t e v sory Committee, January 1979) <br /> � g City Manager Fales noted that Councilman Biagi was Chairman of the <br /> Advisory Comnittee and that Planning Director Schroeter and Planner III <br /> Schoenfeld� who served as staff for the Corr�nittee were also present to <br /> respond to questions about the Study. <br /> Port Manager Di Pietro stated it had been believed that the Comnittee <br /> would be able to consider the entire study area and advise the City <br /> Council and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) <br /> on policies to guide conservation and development within the area. <br /> He advised, however, that the sub3ect of dredging and disposal of <br /> spoils was not fully addressed in the report and since that is a <br /> matter of primary concern and controversy, he recommends that the <br /> Special Area Plan not be adopted as it presently exists. Mr. Di Pietro <br /> comnented concerning the background relating to the side of the channel <br /> designated by the City for dredging spoils and the demands of some <br /> government agencies and special interest groups that the area be <br /> reverted to marshland. <br /> Jim Walton, Les11e Salt Co. representative on the Committee, distri- <br /> ute an read a statement urging re�ection of the sub�ect Special <br /> Area P1an, stating that the Plan as proposed leaves the City in no <br /> better position for economic development than before the P1an process <br /> '""�" began and may contain some additional liabilities. <br /> � Lengthy discussion followed and Councilman Biagi , Mr. Di Pietro, <br /> Chairman Mauk, Mr. Fales a,nd Mr. Schroeter commented and replied to <br /> Jt.Mtg. <br /> w/Port <br /> 4/9/79 <br /> �., ; <br />
