480 <br /> HUMAN SERVICES <br /> HUMAN SERVICE ASSISTANCE (conti�nued) <br /> Johanna Wallace, Director, Center for Independence of the Dis- <br /> a e , Inc. ID), described the organization and its programs <br /> and requested $2,000 as Redwood City's share of the cost of <br /> operation. Ms. Wallace cortmented concerning future plans of <br /> the agency, advising that they are requesting funds from 14 <br /> cities in San Mateo County based on population. In response <br /> to questions as to why all 19 San Mateo County cities were not <br /> being requested to provide funds for CID, Ms. Wallace advised � <br /> that the cost of asking for funds caused them to ask only the <br /> major cities. She described the formula used to determine � <br /> each city's share. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Rhodes moved to allocate $2,100 of the <br /> funds intended for allocation to The Way Inn to CID. <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN: Upon advice of Mayor Barrett that motions <br /> will be called for following consideration of this program, <br /> Councilman Rhodes withdrew his motion. <br /> In response to question, Ms. Wallace advised that CID has talked <br /> with the City of Belmont about leasing their No. 1 Main Fire <br /> Station which is soon expected to be closed by that City. <br /> Ann Prescott, District Administrator, State Department of <br /> Rehabi tat on, advised that it is very likely that her agency <br /> will make a grant to CID and that they strongly support the <br /> activities of CID. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Biagi moved, seconded by Councilman Leipzig, <br /> to make allocations to comnunity based organizations as follows: <br /> PROBE $18,000 <br /> Corrmunity Education Center. 10,000 <br /> Emergency Hunger Fund 3,500 <br /> Halfway House 5,000 <br /> ' Senior Citizen Drop-In Center 8,900 <br /> Police Youth Club 11,000 - <br /> YMCA Youth and Family Service 6,600 � <br /> RSVP 5,000 � <br /> CID 2,000 <br /> 0,0 0 <br /> CHANGE OF MOTION: At the suggestion of Councilman Bury, <br /> Councilman Biagi, with the consent of his second, changed the <br /> proposed allocations to: <br /> Emergency Hunger Fund $ 4,000 <br /> RSVP 4,500 <br /> Nancy Bey, CID, suggested that the Emergency Hunger Fund has many <br /> sources of income now and requested that the allocation to CID <br /> be increased, because it is a worthy new agency.
