Mayor Buchan referred to her letters to Mr. Saisi, Acting Planning
Director Passanisi's letter and talk with Mr. Saisi and advised that
there would be public input in the use permit process.
Vice Mayor Claire reported that no plans had been filed for a parking
lot, nor use permit sought, at this time. Vice Mayor Claire described
the use permit process and public input, and how a Zoning Administrator's
decision could be appealed if necessary.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Joseph Steinfeld, Main Street Merchant, Redwood City asked Council to
consider a community meeting of City and business leaders to plan a
marketing strategy to coincide with the opening of Sequoia Station; and
asked Council to have the Palo Alto Players allow full utilization of the
Fox Theatre.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Joseph Staudt, Broadway Merchant, Redwood City asked Council to dissolve
the B.I.D. so the merchants on the 2600 block of Broadway could organize
their own association. Also, Mr. Staudt asked Council to get rid of the
illegal A-frame signs on sidewalks.
Councilmembers added old garage sale signs to that request and asked
staff to please follow-up. Councilwoman Gasparini stated that the Pride
and Beautification committee was addressing this issue and she would
explain more under Matters of Council Interest.
MEMO 1/13/93
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Laverne Atherly, Cringle Drive, Redwood City, President of the Redwood
Shores Homeowners Association, asked Council to address the following
issues: 1) traffic light on Redwood Shores Parkway at Twin Dolphin
Drive; 2) completion of Marlin Park; 3) completion of Sandpiper Park and
community center; 4) maintenance of lagoons; and 5) other park sites in
Redwood Shores.
Vice Mayor Claire advised Mr. Atherly that Council would be addressing
those issues during discussion of the C.I.P. later in the evening.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
E. Ken Sartain, Canyon Road, Redwood City, described the poor condition of
Canyon Road due to lack of maintenance by the City and increased traffic
due to construction in Emerald Hills, and advised that the storm drainage
system was so bad it was non-functional in some areas. Mr. Sartain asked
that Council use the transportation sales tax one time payment from the
state to begin repairs on Canyon Road and the storm drainage system.
Regular Meeting Minutes
MINUTE BOOK NO. 51 July 12, 1993
Page No. 458 Page 2
--
