----------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Councilman Greenalch reported that he, Mayor Buchan, Councilwoman Steinfeld
and many local elected officials attended a labor organization seminar
hosted by San Mateo County United for Justice. Councilman Greenalch advised
that at the meeting negative allegations were made about certain actions of
some Redwood City Police Officers on July 2, 1993. He investigated the
matter and discovered the allegations were totally false and he wanted the
record corrected. Councilman Greenalch asked that Mayor Buchan, the City
Manager and the Chief of Police compose a letter setting the record straight
and mail it to all participants and attendees of that seminar. Mayor Buchan
also spoke against making unsubstantiated allegations at public meetings and
advised she would be happy to help formulate that letter.
MEMO 7 /13/93
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Councilwoman Steinfeld referred to the three community promotion services
in the proposed FY 1993-94 budget (PCA, Chamber of Commerce and Convention
and Visitors Bureau) that had their original requests restored, and the
reports requested by Council regarding their financial status. Councilwoman
Steinfeld suggested that her colleagues might want to reconsider their votes
made on June 28th, after they receive the subject reports, and take a new
vote on each item separately. If the Council wishes to do so,
reconsideration would have to be scheduled for a future agenda.
G.
