195. <br /> xecommendation that the Council avoid creating any sug- <br /> gestion of even proposing a contractual relationship with <br /> the School Board. <br /> MOTION: Councilrrian Norris moved, seconded by Councilman <br /> � <br /> Barrett, that : <br /> l. the City Council appeal to the School District <br /> w� to retain ownership of the Sa.nta Clara Avenue <br /> property for a period not to exceed one year; <br /> 2, during the year a task force be appointed with <br /> members from Redwood City, Atherton, Woodside, <br /> the School District and the County and with <br /> public participation to investigate and come <br /> up with a recommendation regardin� final dis- <br /> position of the property; and further, <br /> 3. Redwood City reaffirms its present priorities <br /> with respect to the construction program on <br /> existing facilities and that the proposed <br /> long ran�e expansion program be retained as <br /> currently projected in the five-year capital <br /> improvement program. <br /> (See restatement of motion below. ) <br /> Councilman Norris suggested the reference to the one- <br /> year period might be deleted. <br /> �• Councilman Williams suggested the insertion of "citizen" <br /> before "task force" in the motion. <br /> � <br /> Councilman Henderson suggested that if the School Board <br /> is requested to appoint a task force, its composition <br /> should be determined by the Board rather than the City. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the consideration already <br /> given to retaining the subject property by the School <br /> District when they recently considered disposition of <br /> several pieces of property and decided to sell the Santa <br /> Clara Avenue parcel. It was pointed out that the Council <br /> would not request reexamination of their decision regard- <br /> ing all of the parcels, but only the one on Santa Clara <br /> Avenue . <br /> MOT20 N RESTATED: Councilman Norris moved, seconded by <br /> Councilman Barrett, that : <br /> l. the City Council appeal to the Board of <br /> Trustees of the Redwood City Elementary School <br /> District to retain ownership of the Santa Cla.ra <br /> Avenue property; <br /> 2. the Board be requested to appoint a citizens <br /> �" task force to investigate and come up with a <br /> recommendation regarding final disposition of <br /> '�+ the property; and, further, <br /> 3.
