2 � � <br /> Call for bids - <br /> Redwood S ores Levee Maintenance, 1974-75 <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith referred to his report of <br /> August S, 1974 regarding Redwood Shores levee main- <br /> tenance . <br /> � <br /> In response to questions, Director of Public Works <br /> � Pusich advised that he does not presently know the <br /> source of fill material, but that the contractor will <br /> submit fill samples and that levee maintenance will be <br /> in accord with the recommendations contained in the <br /> recent seismic safety report. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the benefits to the <br /> scavenger company through the maintenance of the levee <br /> although the company will not participate in the cost <br /> since it is not in the City. City Attorney Schricker <br /> advised that a:t any time the scavenger company wishes <br /> to annex to the City, the annexation fee will include <br /> prorated charges for any benefits received. <br /> Cla�Shank, President of Redwood Shores Homeowners <br /> Assoc�a on, 5�+0 Compass Drive, objected to GID No. <br /> 1-6� financin� land appreciation of the scavenger <br /> company and asked if it might be possible to encourage <br /> the company to pay a share of the cost. City Attorney <br /> Schricker advised that no conclusive answer can be <br /> given without considerable research And indicated there <br /> would be serious policy questions for Council involved. <br /> Mr. Schricker observed that the Council could not single <br /> ""'� out one taxpayer for individual benefit. <br /> � Ron MacQuarrie, 558 Keelson Circle, requested that an <br /> annua accounting be made to the scavenger company in- <br /> dicating the benefits received and the anticipated <br /> annexation fee for the benefits, so that in the event <br /> of annexation, there would be no dispute as to charges. <br /> MOTION: Title having been read, Councilman Ba.rrett in- <br /> troduced the following resolution and moved, seconded <br /> by Councilman Leipzig, its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 72�0 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFI- <br /> CATION FOR THE REDWOOD SHORES LEVEE MAINTENANCE <br /> 197�+-75 <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Norris moved that staff prepare a <br /> letter for submittal to the scavenger company informing <br /> them of the dike maintenance work which is oing to be <br /> accomplished which will benefit GID No. 1-6� and their <br /> property also. <br /> �.,, City Attorney Schricker advised tha.t representatives of <br /> the Manager' s office and his office have conferred with <br /> j�,r representatives of the new owner of �he scavenger com- <br /> pany, and a separate letter from the Council would <br /> appear out of place at this time. <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN: Councilman Norris withdrew his motion. <br /> _7_ <br /> 8/g2/7�. <br />
