2 � � Call for bids - Redwood S ores Levee Maintenance, 1974-75 Assistant City Manager Smith referred to his report of August S, 1974 regarding Redwood Shores levee main- tenance . � In response to questions, Director of Public Works � Pusich advised that he does not presently know the source of fill material, but that the contractor will submit fill samples and that levee maintenance will be in accord with the recommendations contained in the recent seismic safety report. Discussion followed concerning the benefits to the scavenger company through the maintenance of the levee although the company will not participate in the cost since it is not in the City. City Attorney Schricker advised that a:t any time the scavenger company wishes to annex to the City, the annexation fee will include prorated charges for any benefits received. Cla�Shank, President of Redwood Shores Homeowners Assoc�a on, 5�+0 Compass Drive, objected to GID No. 1-6� financin� land appreciation of the scavenger company and asked if it might be possible to encourage the company to pay a share of the cost. City Attorney Schricker advised that no conclusive answer can be given without considerable research And indicated there would be serious policy questions for Council involved. Mr. Schricker observed that the Council could not single ""'� out one taxpayer for individual benefit. � Ron MacQuarrie, 558 Keelson Circle, requested that an annua accounting be made to the scavenger company in- dicating the benefits received and the anticipated annexation fee for the benefits, so that in the event of annexation, there would be no dispute as to charges. MOTION: Title having been read, Councilman Ba.rrett in- troduced the following resolution and moved, seconded by Councilman Leipzig, its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 72�0 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFI- CATION FOR THE REDWOOD SHORES LEVEE MAINTENANCE 197�+-75 The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. MOTION: Councilman Norris moved that staff prepare a letter for submittal to the scavenger company informing them of the dike maintenance work which is oing to be accomplished which will benefit GID No. 1-6� and their property also. �.,, City Attorney Schricker advised tha.t representatives of the Manager' s office and his office have conferred with j�,r representatives of the new owner of �he scavenger com- pany, and a separate letter from the Council would appear out of place at this time.
