Mr. Byce sug- <br /> gested the rezoning must be denied because of the in- <br /> ability of the Council to find that the rezoning will <br /> not cause serious traffic congestion. Mr, Saint urged denial of the subject appli- <br /> cation and that the site be retained as Tidal Plain and <br /> left in open spa.ce. Mr. Saint suggested that the San <br /> Carlos airport might have to be moved and that there <br /> might be loss of sales tax revenues to adjacent cities. <br /> It wa.s explained to Mr. Saint that it has been deter- <br /> mined by those qualified to do so tha.t no prospective <br /> problems exists with regard to San Carlos airport. <br /> In response to question as to whether or not the Sierra. <br /> Club participated in the land exchange arrangements <br /> between Mobil and the State of California, Mr. Saint <br /> a,dvised he wa,s unable to answer. <br /> Rick Thurber, 1583 Oxford, member of the Sierra Club, <br /> a v se e could reply and stated that he attended a <br /> meeting regarding the land exchange and that the settle- <br /> �""" ment did not give Mobil a. right to develop its land. <br /> In response to Council request for the reply regarding <br /> � Sierra, Club participation which he had volunteered, Mr. <br /> Thurber stated that the Club did paxticipate in an <br /> information-type meeting which he attended, but said <br /> he could not reply as to the extent of Club participa- <br /> tion.
