He noted then the <br /> excellent record collection , slides , film strips , art collection in <br /> way of the framed print reproductions of famous artists . A sculpture <br /> collection had been started , but being held until space avilable in new <br /> center planned for City- owned Main Street building , on which he expanded <br /> in more detail as to what planning proposed when completed for in- door <br /> and outdoor programs , record hearing and film viewing rooms , etc . <br /> In questioning possibility of keeping library open on Sundays , City <br /> Manager advised this had been a recommendation for this year ' s budget <br /> from the Library , but not included when first reduced , but that Council <br /> did have final decision to rearrange programs and priorities if proposal <br /> reconsidered . <br /> City Librarian reported further on services of Library which had been <br /> expanded through aid of " Friends of Library " by their annual book sale <br /> and kinds of collections held by the Library which was making storage and <br /> spacing so very inadequate . He also spoke of the value of our Library <br /> having joined the Peninsula I _brary System and described many benefits <br /> derived f. or all citizens , being able to use branches elsewhere freely . <br /> In making research available for locating sources of information in <br /> other libraries the teletype system had been invaluable . City Manager <br /> noted value of this use of other libraries by City was essentially <br /> justified for the month this past year that the Library services in City <br /> were not available . City Librarian listed in detail the other types of <br /> services which had been noteworthy in their addition since 1960 but also <br /> explained this was why spacing made critical . <br /> Vice Mayor Henderson expressed appreciation for all those attending this <br /> all- day first - time event for Council to have direct dialogue with all <br /> Commissions and Boards , and evidence from sentiments expressed that this <br /> could be regularly scheduled once a year , if not more often . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adjourn , seconded by Councilman Williams and <br /> carried .
