37 0 Minutes of Regular Meeting Redwood City Council May 7 , 1973 7 : 30 P . M . Veterans Memorial Building Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Leipzig . Invocation was led by Reverend John Fagayama , Peninsula Free Methodist Church . ON ROLL CALL, the following were noted present : Councilmen Marguerite Leipzig , Robert F . Norris , William C . Rhodes , Ray A . Weymouth , James S . Williams , Vice-Mayor Mary W . Henderson , presiding , and City Clerk Marian McCrindle . Mayor Paul C . Keckley was noted absent . Also noted present were City Manager James M . Fales , Jr . , City Attorney David H . Schricker , Assistant City Manager James M . Smith. , Police Captain George Bold , Director of Public Works Richard J . Pusich , Director of Building Maintenance and Transportation. Melvin I . Moen , Director. of Parks and Recreation Max C . Weeks , Planning Director Ken Schroeter , and Deplity City Clerk Frances I . Reggetts . On roll call , the following Government Affairs Program students were noted present : Jeanne Barnoli , Ken Booth , Steve Davis , Colleen Murphy , and Kathy Okabayashi . Noted absent were Mike Mahoney and Dennis Zanardi . Councilman Norris moved to approve , as submitted , Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 2. 3 , 1973 , seconded by Councilman Williams and carried . Certificate of. Distinguished Service was presented by Vice-Mayor Henderson to Andrew Racigalupi , former member of the Planning Commission , :,pith appropri - ate remarks expressing appreciation for his having served the community . Joseph Aknin was presented. by Vice -Mayor Henderson with Certificate of Appoint- ment as Member of the Planning Commission . Vice-Mayor Henderson noted that Mr . Aknin had previously been administered the Loyalty Oath , and had already commenced his term on the Commission . She also commended him for his ser- vice as member of the Architectural Review Committee . Mr . Al Irish , representing the Redwood City Optimist Club , commented that "Respect for Law Week " had been initiated by the Optimists International several years ago , to encourage citizens to combat disrespect for law and apathy towards crime . As part of this year ' s Respect for Law program , he advised that the Redwood City Optimists wished to show their gratitude by presenting the Redwood City Police Department with a special award of appreciation , Captain George Bold accepted the plaque on behalf of Chief John McDonald and. the Department . Resolution No . 6899 commending Leonel Valencia on winning the Senior Golden Gloves Title , 119 Pound Division , in the Pacific Association A . A . U . Championships , was accepted from Captain Bold by the recipient ' s aunt , 5/7/73 Reg . Mtg .
