M . <br /> Veterans Memorial Building <br /> Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Leipzig . <br /> Invocation was led by Reverend John Fagayama , Peninsula Free Methodist Church . <br /> ON ROLL CALL, the following were noted present : Councilmen Marguerite Leipzig , <br /> Robert F . Norris , William C . Rhodes , Ray A . Weymouth , James S . Williams , <br /> Vice-Mayor Mary W . Henderson , presiding , and City Clerk Marian McCrindle . <br /> Mayor Paul C . Keckley was noted absent . Also noted present were City Manager <br /> James M . Fales , Jr . , City Attorney David H . Schricker , Assistant City Manager <br /> James M . Smith. , Police Captain George Bold , Director of Public Works Richard <br /> J . Pusich , Director of Building Maintenance and Transportation. Melvin I . <br /> Moen , Director. of Parks and Recreation Max C . Weeks , Planning Director Ken <br /> Schroeter , and Deplity City Clerk Frances I . Reggetts . <br /> On roll call , the following Government Affairs Program students were noted <br /> present : Jeanne Barnoli , Ken Booth , Steve Davis , Colleen Murphy , and Kathy <br /> Okabayashi . Noted absent were Mike Mahoney and Dennis Zanardi . <br /> Councilman Norris moved to approve , as submitted , Minutes of Regular Meeting of <br /> April 2. 3 , 1973 , seconded by Councilman Williams and carried . <br /> Certificate of. Distinguished Service was presented by Vice-Mayor Henderson to <br /> Andrew Racigalupi , former member of the Planning Commission , :,pith appropri - <br /> ate remarks expressing appreciation for his having served the community . <br /> Joseph Aknin was presented. by Vice -Mayor Henderson with Certificate of Appoint- <br /> ment as Member of the Planning Commission . Vice-Mayor Henderson noted that <br /> Mr . Aknin had previously been administered the Loyalty Oath , and had already <br /> commenced his term on the Commission . She also commended him for his ser- <br /> vice as member of the Architectural Review Committee . <br /> Mr . Al Irish , representing the Redwood City Optimist Club , commented that <br /> "Respect for Law Week " had been initiated by the Optimists International <br /> several years ago , to encourage citizens to combat disrespect for law and <br /> apathy towards crime . As part of this year ' s Respect for Law program , he <br /> advised that the Redwood City Optimists wished to show their gratitude by <br /> presenting the Redwood City Police Department with a special award of <br /> appreciation , Captain George Bold accepted the plaque on behalf of Chief <br /> John McDonald and. the Department . <br /> Resolution No . 6899 commending Leonel Valencia on winning the Senior Golden <br /> Gloves Title , 119 Pound Division , in the Pacific Association A . A . U . <br /> Championships , was accepted from Captain Bold by the recipient ' s aunt , <br /> 5/7/73 <br /> Reg . Mtg . <br />
