City Manager indicated this
would be done , and included would be information as to what South San
Francisco did ,
In further reference to law enforcement , Councilman Leipzig expressed con-
cern with regard to many junk automobiles , and named in particular a loca-
tion at Roosevelt near Valota Road . Mayor Keckley asked that this be
referred to staff to determine whether we are taking full advantage of
State laws to get rid of junk cars .
Account No . 710 - Park Maintenance : Approved as submitted .
Account No . 730 - Recreation : Councilman Weymouth questioned whether there
were discussions about the Police Youth Club and whether City was resuming
responsibility for the Club . City Manager indicated that this year it was
transferred from the Police Department to Recreation Division . Essentially ,
the Board of Directors and Staff had worked together to bring this about .
Account No . 750 - Municipal Marina : In response to question by Councilman
Weymouth , City Controller advised the indebtedness to the State would be
paid off in 1980 and amounted to between 100 to 200 thousand dollars .
Councilman Weymouth asked if it was required that City fund depreciation
during the total time , and City Controller responded affirmatively , as
long as there was a loan . He added that the loan could always be paid
off , but at an interest rate of 3%, it was not worth it .
Account No . 760 - Library : Councilman Rhodes moved that $8 , 000 be added to
this account to provide for the Main Library to be open on Sundays , from
1 : 00 to 5 : 00 p . m . , during the months between September 1 , 1973 and June 1 ,
1974 , for the convenience of senior citizens and students . He suggested
if there is no other source from which to transfer this sum, that Revenue
Sharing funds could be used for this purpose . Councilman Henderson felt
that it might be better for the funds to come out of Budgeted Reserves .
City Controller stated that this was an additional item proposed by the
City Librarian to be considered , but was not an item actually cut out of
his budget requests . City Manager added that City Librarian had other
items he wanted more than this , and therefore it did not hold up as a
high priority item . In response to question by Mayor Keckley , he indicated
that the City Librarian had as a higher priority a request for more money
in the improvement of periodicals collection , that was not included , and
5/12/73
Adj .
