Robert Costello , 525 Marshall , <br /> indicated he represented the San Mateo <br /> County Employees Credit Union , who owned <br /> the majority of the block in question , <br /> and had expressed objections to the re- <br /> zoning . By referring to a projected slide <br /> drawing of the area , he identified the <br /> location of the lot in question, and the <br /> relationship with the adjacent properties <br /> owned by the Credit Union. He indicated <br /> that it was the intention of his clients <br /> to acquire property to enable significant <br /> office type development , consistent with <br /> present zoning ordinance and with the Down- <br /> town Plan . He pointed out lack of adequate <br /> parking for the type of business proposed . <br /> He felt allowing this to be rezoned would <br /> be counter to the letter and spirit of the <br /> Downtown Plan . <br /> Councilman Williams questioned whether Mr . Costellots clients would object <br /> to controlled use of the lot under present zoning , Mr . Costello responded <br /> that he believed they would , that they did not feel a bar should go in a <br /> neighborhood where there are residences around it , and when there are many <br /> places all over town where space could be rented for a bar , <br /> Mr . Riggs commented that the dwellings <br /> referred to were substandard to the <br /> requirements in Fire Zone 1 , being con- <br /> structed of wood . <br /> There was considerable discussion concerning parking , following which <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to close the public hearing , seconded by Councilman <br /> Rhodes and carried , <br /> Councilman Norris moved to affirm the action of the Planning Commission and <br /> DENY the application to amend the Zoning Map , seconded by Councilman Rhodes <br /> and carried on roll call vote , Councilman Leipzig voting no . <br /> (MINUTE ORDER #73 -85 ) <br /> Councilman Henderson suggested that the Chamber of Commerce Commercial and <br /> Industrial Committee might be of assistance to the applicant in relocating <br /> their business . <br /> REPORT OF BID OPENING - Red Morton Community Park , Phase I <br /> Staff report indicated that recommendation was to award the contract to <br /> Palo Alto Landscaping , Inc . , Mountain View , the low bidder in the amount of <br /> $ 127 , 464 . 60 .
