Turner reported on her trip to deliver
contributions in a rented truck contributed by the Western Conference of
Teamsters , who also furnished the driver , and the various obstacles faced
during the 18-hour trip . She advised they carried 7 , 000 pounds of food , and
funds contributed were to go entirely to buy feed for their livestock . She
indicated that their reception at the village was a moving experience . Mrs .
Turner had brought with her to the meeting some photographs taken on the trip ,
as well as Navajo rugs , and hoped that she would have the opportunity to set
up a display in the near future . Mayor Keckley expressed appreciation for
the presentation and for sparking the project , and named a number of local
groups who had joined in this effort .
