30 <br /> She indicated storage of supplies requires surveillance and that they <br /> deteriorate , but the problem is not being ignored , and that current activity <br /> in disaster planning is progressing to accomplish solutions . City Manager <br /> added that many buildings were designated as shelters under the criteria that <br /> they served as protection from fall -out ; however , these same buildings could <br /> collapse in an earthquake . On resurvey of these structures , many buildings <br /> now designated as shelters will not qualify in certain kinds of disasters . <br /> Vice -Mayor Henderson questioned the fact that request for Capital Expenditure <br /> was almost $10 , 000 more than recommended . City Controller responded that there <br /> had been additional request for a generator , and this was included under <br /> Building Maintenance . <br /> Building Regulation . The program was essentially the same as the previous <br /> year , with increase to provide for additional microfilming and plan checking, <br /> as well as building abatement costs . With regard to comment concerning Sign <br /> Ordinance enforcement , City Manqpr advised that the EEA employee in Building <br /> Department is working on sign enforcement , and that if this effort was included , <br /> there would be an increase in the time devoted to sign regulation . <br /> Planning . City Manager indicated that it was proposed to allocate an additional <br /> Planner to the Planning Department staff , and to allocate $30 , 000 for consultant <br /> work on unfinished portions of the General Plan . <br /> It was felt that it would be appropriate at this point to consider the Cityls one -half <br /> share of funds toward the publication of the Emerald Lakes-Redwood City Hillside <br /> General Plan report . Councilman Rhodes moved to approve expenditure of $ 1 , 500 <br /> as City ' s share toward publication of the Committee ' s report , seconded by <br /> Vice -Mayor Henderson and carried . <br /> Community Promotion . City Manager suggested this would be the appropriate point <br /> to consider the request of the Jaycee ' s . City Controller indicated the request <br /> of Stambaugh House would come under "Non-Departmental " . There was general <br /> discussion, and City Manager noted that there are times when requests involving <br /> City expense are not easy to identify , such as occasions where labor is needed <br /> to set up bleachers , or where services of a police officer are requested . <br /> The matter of the request for contribution forthe July 4th weekend boat <br /> regatta was discussed briefly , and Vice -Mayor Henderson moved to approve $ 500 <br /> in funds for sponsorship by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of the annual boat <br /> regatta , subject to its being held , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried . <br /> 5 -13 - 72 <br /> Adj .
