Franklin indicated there were no
recreation facilities in East Redwood
City , and that they had been given use
of the Sequoia High School gymnasium
by the principal , if they could get
funding from the Recreation Department ,
Mayor Keckley reported that a meeting had been held with
Mr . Franklin and George Collins a week after the City Budget
had been adopted , and it was suggested to them that with a
little forethought something might have been done earlier .
He pointed out that there were City-wide recreational activities
and this group could take advantage of that program . Chaffee who did not feel the High School should be in the
recreation business .
Clifford Baxley , 646 Douglas , spoke in
support of the request , feeling that
funds were needed for supervisory and
custodial personnel , since it was diffi -
cult to find voluntary workers .
City Manager indicated the school districts are sensitive about
programs with the City without an agreement covering insurance
and other provisions . Councilman Weymouth suggested continuing
the matter for one week , in view of the question of insurance ,
cost factors and responsibility .
