Administrative /Executive /Service Facilities : That , because of its <br /> unique location , Redwood City encourage the location of major first - <br /> class office buildings with full services offering attractive rental. <br /> rates that will attract tenants finding, it convenient to be close <br /> to offices of government and to be located in the hub of the San <br /> Francisco Peninsula , midway between the metropolitan San Francisco <br /> area and the growing San Jose complex and that each provide <br /> adequate parking facilities . <br /> 3 . Industrial Activities : This congress recognizes the importance of <br /> the Port of Redwood City as a basic economic asset to the community <br /> and urge that every consideration be given to i ncreasirr, its value <br /> as a major port facility in the San Francisco Bay Area in order <br /> that Redwood City may attract other water - oriented industries whose <br /> interests would be germane to the activities of the port and compati - <br /> ble with the environment . <br /> Council indicated endorsement , and referral to the Port Commission , <br /> LL Commercial /Retail sta.blishments : That local government and business <br /> leaders reaffirm the fact that commercial /retail trade is desirable <br /> and proceed to work out the best and most enlightened ways in <br /> which it can expand and grow . It is suggested that a review be <br /> made of all past studies of problems connected with the downtown <br /> shopping area , relating them to present conditions in the downtown <br /> area as well as the present and proposed satellite retail centers <br /> within the city , and that an immediate positive action program <br /> be implemented that will encourage all retail /commercial. owners <br /> and operators assuring them that their present investment in <br /> Redwood City is warranted , and that new investments in retail/ <br /> commercial outlets are invited and encouraged <br /> Council asked that this be referred to Chamber of Commerce . <br /> Mr . Filene again requested consideration <br /> of three additional resolutions under <br /> "Human Relations " . ( Nos . 2 , 7 and 9 ) <br /> These were briefly discussed and no action recommended . <br /> Councilman Rhodes advised that he had been contacted about a year ago by <br /> the Red Cross concerning a "hot line " , using Canada College students , <br /> and requested he check City facilities . we was told there was a room <br /> that could be used for a "hot line " operation , and he was now requesting <br /> that the City Manager check and confirm this . He felt that committees <br /> 1 -24 - 72 <br />
