245 CONSENT CALENDAR : (a ) DAMAGE CLAIM , Robert T . Selb , 1719 Maryland , property damage allegedly due to obstruction in City sewer system . ( Council action would deny the claim and refer to insurance carrier ) (MINUTE ORDER #72 -216) (b ) ACCOUNTS PAYABLE , Nos . 93884 to 94017 , inclusive , totaling $128 , 201 . 24 . ( Council action would approve accounts for payment by City ) PAYMENT OF WARRANTS , December 25 until January 8 , 1973 . ( Council action would authorize usual and necessary payment of bills during this period . ) (MINUTE ORDER #72 -217) Councilman Norris moved to approve CONSENT CALENDAR, Items (a ) and (b ) , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll call vote , Council - man Rhodes being noted absent . COMMUNICATIONS : (a ) WRITTEN - Copies submitted to Council : 1 , California Investors Group , 833 El Camino Real , San Carlos , requesting permission to appear before Council to read a letter pertaining to restoration of the old bank building at the corner of Broadway and Main ( continued from Council meeting of December 4th to this date by telephone request from Mr. Kenneth Mahl ) . City Clerk reported that a second communication ( subject letter ) had been received on December 11 and submitted to Council at this meeting . Report by staff was also submitted to Council . Councilman Williams commented on the considerable amount of information received by Council just before the meeting concerning the matter, including a memorandum from Councilman Norris , and that there had been no opportunity to study it . although he realized a number of people were present in the interest of the matter , he felt there should be an opportunity to review the information in order to be better prepared for discussion . He indicated he had no objections , if a representative of the group wished to read the letter as requested . Mr . Lawrence Gilsdorf, 1506 Hopkins Avenue , advised he had been asked by the group to be spokesman, and had no financial interest in the project . He then read in full the letter dated December 11 , 1972 , by Mr . Kenneth A . Mahl , California Investors Group ( copy sub- _- mitted to Council - original on file City Clerk ' s office ) . He then added that consideration of the project at this time was crucial because escrow was due to close on four buildings , including the bank building , and because of deadline considera- tions by potential lessees . 12/11/72
