Mayor Bury being noted absent . <br /> Councilman Rhodes moved to introduce Ordinance appropriating $17 , 000 from Unappropriated <br /> Balance of Sales Tax Capital Outlay Fund to provide for General Municipal <br /> Facility Civic Center Improvements , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried . <br /> City Manwer commented on Senate 131. 11 325 which had been discussed with the <br /> Committee , and which would allow counties to enact a sales tax for financing <br /> of public transportation systems . Funds are allocated within the nine Bay Area <br /> counties by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission , but this agency has not <br /> yet developed regulations by which funds collected through Gas Tax could be <br /> distributed . He stated that the only city immediately eligible would be <br /> Redwood City because of the existence of a system . He indicated that although <br /> the Bill would not go into effect until July 1st , the Transportation Committee <br /> has indicated support of recommendation that application for reimbursement of <br /> part of the funds be made immediately . <br /> Councilman Henderson felt it would be desirable for the Transportation Committee <br /> or staff to contact Menlo Park Councilman William R . Lawson , as soon as <br /> possible , so that he would be aware of concerns and carry ahem to MTC . City <br /> Lana. ger indicated he would comply with this request . (Memo 2 - 15 - 72 ) <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 668o AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE <br /> FURNISHING OF SEVEN TRANSIT BUSES , seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried <br /> on roll call vote , Councilman Petersen abstaining , and Mayor Bury being noted <br /> absent . <br /> Sewage Treatment Plant Digester Cleaning and Pre --Chlorination Program . <br /> City Manager referred to his report in which a three -phase program for more <br /> e ffective wastewater treatment was outlined , based on a series of meetings <br /> w ith Public Works Department and representatives of Jenks & Adamson , City ' s <br /> consultants . The three phases included immediate , short range and long range <br /> n eeds , and the matter before Council concerned immediate needs of cleaning the <br /> Primary Sludge Digester , and of pre - chlorinating raw sewage entering the Sewage <br /> 2 - 1L - 7c <br />
