445 <br /> Public Works . Community Park Channel Improvement completed except for minor <br /> corrective items and general cleanup . Woodside Road landscaping project <br /> essentially complete , with miscellaneous corrective items remaining . Weed <br /> abatement on schedule , with spraying about complete and first discing just <br /> begun . Residential street lighting in Redwood Shores 32% complete . In <br /> conjunction with cleaning of digester at Sewage Treatment Plant , an earthen <br /> embankment collapsed on February 22 , allowing some 25 , 000 gallons of digester <br /> material to flow onto adjacent pavement . Flow was immediately contained <br /> although a small portion reached Maple Street . None entered any drains <br /> leading into Redwood Creek, and the area was cleaned within two hours . <br /> Mayor Bury noted that some time ago Council had agreed to name the model <br /> airplane field after Charles T . Zimmerman , but that about that time SCSP <br /> activities in the area began . He reported that he had recently had a call <br /> from Mr . Carl Tiedemann , who was interested in participating in ceremony <br /> dedicating the field . City Manager indicated he would be happy to arrange <br /> this . ( Memo 3 - 14-72 ) <br /> With regard to costs for renovating the caboose , City Manager indicated <br /> this was partially work that was needed when it was placed at the Park, and <br /> partly restoration needed because of vandalism . <br /> Responding to concern expressed by Councilman Petersen regarding the Treat- <br /> '- meat Plant digester cleaning project , City Manager advised that this was a <br /> 30-day project and estimated it was about 50% complete . The odor problem <br /> recently encountered was anticipated because the procedure called for spread- <br /> ing the material for drying, but unseasonable warm weather aggravated the <br /> problem . <br /> Mayor Bury advised there had been some recent meetings with representatives <br /> of Peninsula Cable TV, and that Councilman Petersen ' s Franchise Committee <br /> would be meeting with them again, with one of the matters of concern relating <br /> to the new bi -monthly billing procedure . <br /> PUBLIC HEARING , Appeal of GEORGE J . and HELEN G . PETRAKIS , from denial by the <br /> Planning Commission of Application for a Variance to Section 32 . 14 ( a ) , <br /> Ordinance No . 1130 , the Zoning Ordinance , to permit a room addition on pro- <br /> perty located at 2110 Jefferson Avenue , declared open and affidavits of <br /> publication and mailing ordered filed . <br /> Staff report indicated that Planning Commission had at their meeting of <br /> February 22 , 1972 , after a public hearing , denied application for Variance <br /> which would permit a room addition to the rear of an existing structure which <br /> would provide 8 feet , rather than the required 10 feet , between the main <br /> structure and an accessory building . <br /> 3 - 13 -72 <br />
