445 Public Works . Community Park Channel Improvement completed except for minor corrective items and general cleanup . Woodside Road landscaping project essentially complete , with miscellaneous corrective items remaining . Weed abatement on schedule , with spraying about complete and first discing just begun . Residential street lighting in Redwood Shores 32% complete . In conjunction with cleaning of digester at Sewage Treatment Plant , an earthen embankment collapsed on February 22 , allowing some 25 , 000 gallons of digester material to flow onto adjacent pavement . Flow was immediately contained although a small portion reached Maple Street . None entered any drains leading into Redwood Creek, and the area was cleaned within two hours . Mayor Bury noted that some time ago Council had agreed to name the model airplane field after Charles T . Zimmerman , but that about that time SCSP activities in the area began . He reported that he had recently had a call from Mr . Carl Tiedemann , who was interested in participating in ceremony dedicating the field . City Manager indicated he would be happy to arrange this . ( Memo 3 - 14-72 ) With regard to costs for renovating the caboose , City Manager indicated this was partially work that was needed when it was placed at the Park, and partly restoration needed because of vandalism . Responding to concern expressed by Councilman Petersen regarding the Treat- '- meat Plant digester cleaning project , City Manager advised that this was a 30-day project and estimated it was about 50% complete . The odor problem recently encountered was anticipated because the procedure called for spread- ing the material for drying, but unseasonable warm weather aggravated the problem . Mayor Bury advised there had been some recent meetings with representatives of Peninsula Cable TV, and that Councilman Petersen ' s Franchise Committee would be meeting with them again, with one of the matters of concern relating to the new bi -monthly billing procedure . PUBLIC HEARING , Appeal of GEORGE J . and HELEN G . PETRAKIS , from denial by the Planning Commission of Application for a Variance to Section 32 . 14 ( a ) , Ordinance No . 1130 , the Zoning Ordinance , to permit a room addition on pro- perty located at 2110 Jefferson Avenue , declared open and affidavits of publication and mailing ordered filed . Staff report indicated that Planning Commission had at their meeting of February 22 , 1972 , after a public hearing , denied application for Variance which would permit a room addition to the rear of an existing structure which would provide 8 feet , rather than the required 10 feet , between the main structure and an accessory building . 3 - 13 -72
