<br /> c. Çouncilman Sanfilipo reported that residents near St. Francis and James <br /> reported a cable TV truck had damaged a speed limit sign at that corner and <br /> drove off. Councilman Sanfilipo asked staff to look into this matter to see <br /> if the City is paying to replace damaged property caused by other parties. <br /> D. Councilwoman Gasparini announced that the Redwood City Senors softball team <br /> had challenged the Council to a game. After much anecdotal discussion <br /> Councilman Sanfilipo was the only volunteer. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini reminded everyone to report graffiti on the hot line, <br /> 780-7304. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini reported on the very successful Bay Trail clean-up on <br /> August 8th sponsored by the Redwood City Pride and Beautification <br /> Committee. <br /> Councilwoman Gasparini advised that the shopping cart ordinance would be <br /> coming to Council in the near future. <br /> E. Mayor Buchan advised that the San Mateo County Central Labor Council had <br /> entered into negotiations with Oracle and she would continue to counsel that <br /> the City not be drawn into this private dispute. <br /> Mayor Buchan thanked Councilwoman Gasparini and the Parks and Recreation <br /> Department for the tree planting ceremony in honor of Joe and Minnie <br /> Lencioni on August 10th. <br /> Mayor Buchan discussed proposed legislation currently being considered by <br /> the state legislature regarding new sales tax exemptions, AB 1313, and shift <br /> in revenues, SB 1234, and asked her colleagues for input. <br /> Mayor Buchan described the hugely successful spaghetti feed fund raiser the <br /> City sponsored to help the victims of the midwest floods in Ste. Genevieve, <br /> Missouri. The fund raiser was held at the Veterans and Seniors Center at <br /> noon on August 14th with the help of Redwood City citizens, the Interservice <br /> Council, City staff with special thanks to the members of the Police and <br /> Fire Departments. Mayor Buchan announced that the City had raised over <br /> $5,200 for our new friends in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and their Mayor <br /> William Anderson, was overwhelmed by our concern and our efforts on their <br /> behalf. <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 8.
