92 <br /> City Attorney to comment . City Attorney advised that as ordinance had been <br /> drafted , that particular subparagraph had been mandatory ; in the present <br /> ordinance it was discretionary , and he understood that Councilman Keckley <br /> preferred discretionary provisions should be retained . An additional sentence <br /> would therefore have to be added : "The Chief of Police in his discretion <br /> may waive the requirements of this subparagraph ( j ) . " He indicated the <br /> ordinance would be so modified , <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to introduce Ordinance amending Sections of , and <br /> adding Section to , the Code , relating to Permits for Solicitors , Peddlers <br /> and Charitable Sales , seconded by Councilman Henderson . Councilman Rhodes <br /> inquired as to whether there were controls as to methods or time of <br /> solicitation , and Police Chief responded that these were covered under <br /> Section 28 . 11 ( d ) . Mayor Bury noted earlier discussions relating to the <br /> matter of garage sales which is now before the Ordinance Review Committee , <br /> and would be presented at a future meeting . Motion carried . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6481 APPROPRIATING $1 , 000 <br /> FROM UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF SALES TAX CAPITAL EXPENDITURE FUND TO PROVIDE <br /> FOR CAPITAL EXPENDITURES FOR FURNISHINGS OF CITY COUNCIL STUDY , seconded by <br /> Councilman Petersen . This action provided for completion of funding for <br /> furnishings for the new Council Study , Motion carried on roll call vote , <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6482 , A RESOLUTION OF <br /> INTENTION TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINIS- <br /> TRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ' RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND THE COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman Henderson . In response to <br /> question by Council as to definition of " safety member " , Police Chief advised <br /> this referred only to sworn peace officers , and Controller added that in <br /> the Fire Department , this covered only the uniformed members . Motion carried <br /> on roll call vote . <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR : <br /> (a ) Adoption of ORDINANCE NO , 1130 . 126 AMENDING SECTION 31 , 19 OR ORDINANCE <br /> NO . 1130 , THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING <br /> TO TEMPORARY FIREWORKS SALES FACILITIES , <br /> (b ) Adoption of ORDINANCE NO . 1130 . 127 ADDING SECTION 60 . 17 , 1 TO ORDINANCE <br /> NO . 1130 , THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE, REZONING PROPERTY IN THE <br /> VICINITY OF FARM HILL BOULEVARD AND EDEN BOWER LANE . <br /> ( c ) Adoption of ORDINANCE NO , 1130 . 128 ADDING SECTION 60 . 18 , 3 TO ORDINANCE <br /> NO . 1130 , THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE , REZONING PROPERTY IN THE <br /> VICINITY OF TUM SUDEN WAY AND CALIFORNIA WAY . <br /> Ordinances were introduced at Council meeting <br /> of March 22 , 1971 , and affidavits of publication <br /> are on file . <br />
