110 <br /> Fire Chief then commented on what is being done locally in preparation against <br /> a similar disaster , with limited manpower and communications . Civilian Defense <br /> and Operation Plan is almost complete and he felt City was in a fairly good <br /> position . He described the efforts and training involved , including the use <br /> of an Office of Emergency Service engine for purpose of training Auxiliary <br /> CD Fire Fighters , and preparations for emergency communications , such as <br /> use of mobile units and amateur radio operators . He spoke highly of the Los <br /> Angeles Fire Department , from the standpoint of their operations , as well as <br /> courtesies extended during the inspection trip , and thanked the Council for <br /> the opportunity . <br /> Councilman Henderson reviewed the formation by Senate Resolution of Joint <br /> Committee on Seismic Safety in 1969 , and five advisory groups which had been <br /> set up under that Committee . The group to which she had been appointed was <br /> the Governmental Organization and Performance Committee . She enumerated <br /> several pending legislative bills the Advisory Groups were concerned with , <br /> relating to seismic safety, and indicated that at a later time , Council would <br /> be asked to consider and support certain legislation . She described some of <br /> the areas of concern relating to improved safety standards . She also commented <br /> on her inspection trip to Los Angeles earthquake area with this group . ( Copy <br /> of report to be submitted to Council . ) <br /> Mayor Bury advised that the next agenda item to be taken up would be Communica- <br /> tions , in the interest of persons present . <br /> COMMUNICATIONS : <br /> 1 . Daniel R . Allen , Executive Director , Community Education Center , requesting <br /> inclusion in City budget , F . Y . 1971-1972 , of $1 , 000 grant to the Center . <br /> Recommendation was to refer the item for consideration during <br /> Budget Study Sessions . <br /> 3 . Mid-Peninsula Cab Co . , Inc . , 450 Howland Ave . , requesting that Ordinance <br /> relating to schedule of rates for taxicabs be changed to coincide with <br /> City employees ' cost of living increase or decrease . <br /> Mayor Bury asked that this be referred to the Transportation <br /> Committee for recommendation . <br /> Councilman Henderson moved to accept communications items 1 and 3 and recommenda- <br /> tions , seconded by Councilman Williams and carried . ( MINUTE ORDER #71-67-A ) <br /> 2 . Clifford M . Boxley , Director, " PROBE " Community Center , 2615 Fair Oaks <br /> Avenue , requesting a place on Council agenda of April 19th . ( Mr . Boxley <br /> had been notified this would be a communications item for Council ' s <br /> consideration . ) <br />
